The Bats had a strong week to close the season, as we went 6-1. Took 3/4 from Philly before sweeping Carolina in a 3-game series, all at home. Unfortunately it wasn't quite enough to take the Stout as Baltimore also had a good week to fend us off by a game. But, I'm happy with the way we played and we secured the top wildcard slot in the IL, which would mean we avoid Seattle in the ILDS if we're able to beat New York.

Dave Payette won both his starts this week to finish with 17 wins and a 2.96 ERA, leading the IL in both categories. I don't know if the rest of his numbers are Pale Ale worthy, but he's been really good for me this season. Ed Carroll also continued his great pitching as of late - he's looked more like his old self for the past month.

At the plate, Jamie Nickerson hit HR #30, joining Rory Smith with 30+ HRs on this team. It's not a lot of homers in some places, but in DC hitting that many is pretty rare. I think it may be the first time in team history that 2 guys have hit 30+ in the same season. Smith's 33 bombs is the sixth most in Bats history, not bad for a rookie.

We'll take on the Knights in the Wildcard round. We went 11-7 against them this season, but they're a good team and certainly capable of beating us. Anything can happen in the 3-game series.

Valiant attempt to get to .500 missed on the last game of the season. Technically we were eliminated Oct 5th, but we really gave it all away in September.

Gonna have to figure out why the past few season we are struggling on the final month considering we are normally bring up a AAA playoff team the past few season.
