Snap, Hamlet just burst out for you. 10 RBI? He had a total of 17 for me in the first month and two weeks.

Well, he's obviously producing as you like. He did what he should. I consider him a .270-.280 hitter and the .269 is right around there. That's probably one hit from a .275 week.

I'm happy with Murcott. He had an excellent week getting hits. But, I saw only one victory out of it. Other guys aren't producing. Zam had a bad offensive week. Seems like Seagarra and Tesina are the only guys I can trust every week.

As for Seagarra, he seems to enjoy playing the field. Great week for him too.

So far, I think the Murcott/Hamlet deal is going to work out for both sides. I just happen to have holes in other parts of the field (cough*outfield*cough) that need more help. Murcott is only the first piece to solving that issue.

Also, my pitching would be about average if I had a fifth starter. Freaking Joe Perez is not the answer.

I agree. I think I needed RBIs... I think you needed some speed... And I think we both feel the deal gives us the financial profile that we needed for the next few seasons.

I do have to say that I'm proud of my bullpen. With the exception of Rugamas (who I signed specifically to anchor the pen), every pitcher climbed through my farm system.

4th best Bullpen ERA in the DL is satisfying for a bullpen that costs nearly nothing to run.

If only I could find out why Tom Rice is a complete mess despite my scout and OSA loving him to a point that an ERA of 10 is just out of character.

          3-3

          0-3 vs Hartford
          3-0 @ Hyundai

          The Good (BLB/Minors)
          - The starters were good. Mac Avery, Vidal Olberra, Joe Gauina, and Dante Geake pitched a combined 26.2 innings, allowing just 17 hits, 9 BB's, and 3 runs while striking out 22. In our short existence, we have never had starting pitching like this.
          - after a slow April, Rex Knight is heating up. In 92 Double-A AB's Rex is hitting .380/.442/.478 for the month of May. The power isn't quite there yet, though he hit his first homer of the season this month to go along with 3 triples.
          - At Triple-A, 1B Ruben Sanchez continues a torrid start to the season, that honestly, I didn't see coming. On the short season he's hitting .362/.446/.592, with solid power and great patience. He strikes out more than I'd like, but as long as the power and patience continue, thats fine and dandy. My scout doesn't like him as much as OSA, so it'll be interesting to see where he ends up.
          - Also at Triple-A, SP Curt Goodwin came back strong after a short elbow injury, pitching 7 innings. He allowed 2 hits, 1 BB, and racked up 7 K's. He's an interesting find for us, and he may get a call up later this year.

          The Bad:
          - My bullpen is ranked 8th in the DL, and I feel like we're just one impact guy away. Goodwin may be the answer there, but I'm cautious to call him up too early. We'll see.

          - Not really all that impressed with Don Alexander. He's putting up just below career average numbers, but their below career average none the less. He hit two homers this sim, but still only hit .167. He had a great April, so maybe he just hates May. Lets hope so.

          The Ugly:
          - Not really ugly, but we made quite a few changes this week. We demoted RF Ernesto Aeosta, SS Ismael Mancias, and SP/RP Ralph Dingwall to AAA. Coming up to take their places are SP Archibaldo Garcia, 3B Adrian Acosta, LF Lonzo Serma, and RF David van Ham.

Not sure who's gonna start and who will be on the bench, but we need to wake a few guys up. Maybe this will help. I'm curious to see how Acosta and van Ham do in particular. This should be an interesting sim to say the least.

          - For the second time this year, Subaru Hiraki (out for 4 weeks) will be joining the DL. The night he was hurt, Johnny Carson stated in his dialog that Hiraki spends more time on the DL than John Candy does at the Buffet. Hmm.

I can't think of what GM in the MLB is considered the best in coming out ahead in trades but whoever that is I give that distinction to Clay for the BLB. I really do think Hamlet will be producing for quite a while in Virginia.

They usually give GM awards to teams that win.

I didn't say I was giving him an award....just the notoriety that comes with swindling other teams. I don't remember the details of the deal that brought Poling over but if I remember right he bent someone over in that deal.

It was Los Lunas. The owner was Dkgojackets. The players were Poling and O'Hegarty for Joe Sargentini. The 2nd most lopsided deal in BLB history.

You are now on the list!

I'm doing all of this so I can take that top spot from you in a few years. Beware the Bulls!

Trust me, I've been taken too. Check out Joe Chavagarra. See what I traded Diesel for him. Then go find him in my minor leagues and see how he's doing. I did cut a lot of money but it was a bad deal.

                        4-2 Sim. 1-2 @ Carolina. 3-0 vs. Los Alamos
Going 4-2 is pretty good, but under the circumstance, I am very pleased. I was without Joe Chavarraga this week. In the two loses to Carolina, I lost by one-run in both games. For the sim I outscored my opponents 37-23. I really can't complain.

                        The Good
-Rookie OF Miguel Angel Padilla has started to heat up. In 24 BLB games, he has 5 HRs and 17 RBIs. Might be the IL rookie of the year.
-Speaking of IL ROY candidates, SS Pete Summers continues to tear the cover off the ball. The rookie is now hitting .336 with a .865 OPS. Already a 15 VORP.
-In a spot-start, waiver-claim (formely of Syracuse) pitcher Phil Gibson pitched a gem. On the road in Carolina, he went seven strong, giving up only two hits in the 0-1 loss. Glad to know I have a solid backup if one of my SPs goes down.

                        The Bad
-Bullpen struggles. Setup man Zoilo Lambarria is having his meltdown a little early this season. This sim he gave up 8 H and 7 ER in 2.2 IP. Not even Grant Lewis is safe from the Bats bullpen issues. He got his 2nd loss of the season. He does however have 10 saves already despite having a 5.17 ERA and 1.53 WHIP. He has given up more homeruns this season than he did all of last year.
-My catching duo of Keita Uchiyama and Jerry Fortin really struggled this week. They combined for four hits in 24 ABs.

                        The Ugly
-Virginia being in first place. Unreal.

I think you have forgotten about the Reyes for Gremades and Abe deal. Reyes only posted an OPS of around .700 in three years for Carolina.
