32 games means absolutely nothing... especially when you consider that the worst team in the IL is only 5.0 games out of the WC right now.
WAY TOO MUCH TIME LEFT!!
I don't think he meant that he thought you were going to win the WC, only that he is very surprised to see you leading this late in the season. Or to put a slightly different spin on it, how impressed he is with how far you have taken the team in 5 short seasons at the helm.

I didn't take it that way... I was simply making a statement about how... "if the season ended today".... how close the IL sits at this moment. Usually I'm 14 games out by now. Hell... look at Mississippi.... he's pulling off a very Colonial-esque beginning of the season.

And... trust me... he wasn't impressed...
My team is getting worse every year. I put together a 73 win team my expansion season and have gone downhill since then. It'd be funny if I wasn't approaching early 80s Wildfire records.

We will see. It looks like you have lost a lot of close games and, as I recall, not many of the games that the Wildfire lost were very close. I'd say that you have a long way to go to me mentioned in that company. I remember that team. It is only a slight exaggeration to say that it didn't have a single player that a contending team would want.

Or the '79 Millers "performance". I still don't know how I went from that to what I have now.
I've already won half the number of games I did that whole season

No way, no how you touch the 39 wins mark. California will always hold that record... do you hear me? ALWAYS!
California Kodiaks - GM - 1982-2013 Brewmaster's Cups: 1987 Import League Champions: 1987, 1989
Porter Division Champions: 1986, 1987, 1989, 1999, 2000 Import League Wild Card: 2001, 2003, 2004

I dunno... based off of Mississippi's pythagorean record, they're on pace for about 42 wins... and so far they're already three games worse than what they should be based off that record. Might be close for the co-commish cup all time record!
Charlotte Knights - OSFL Syracuse Slammers - BLB South America - 1984 WBC Runner Up
No offense, Wolf, but you must not have been around here long enough to remember that 81 California team. That team actually made some of Clay's early teams look pretty good. And not only did they not have any decent players at the BLB level, as I recall their minor league system was berift of talent as well.
Also, based on their Pyt. record, Mississippi is on pace for between 45 and 46 wins not 43. I think Linty is pretty safe on this one.
The '82 Rule V draft was very kind to me. Otherwise, I'd still be playing guys like Will Park.... and just for a crash course of how bad that team was... take a look at the '81 history... of the guys still left, they posted a -56 VORP on offense. Yes, a -56. So now imagine all the guys that are no longer listed in the history... guys that were so bad, they're already out of the league. Also, the '81 Wildfire hold the record for the least amount of runs ever scored in a season... 485. Or... 2.99 runs a game.
As for the '82 Rule 5 draft I mentioned, I picked up...
Oswaldo Escargcaga- SP: 79.5 VORP in four years. ALL TIME leader in wins for the Wildfire/Kodiaks with 32. Yep... a Rule V guy is my all time wins leader, and we've been around for eight years now.
Harmon McHardy- 2B: 16.5 VORP in four years.
So, in short... no.... no team will be as bad as the 1981 California Wildfire... I know its a lofty goal, but it's just not going to happen Mississippi.

My team managed to go 20-0 against them in 81. I doubt we see that ever happen again. We don't even play 20 games against division opponents anymore I don't think.
Not much to say for my team this week. We went 2-4, our first losing week of the year and didn't really do to many good things. Hopefully Opio will shake the rust off and we'll get back to winning next sim.
