Biggest news out of Pawtucket is a new team doctor. Sorry, something had to give on this. Never fired a Doctor in mid-stream. See how it goes.

Pawtucket 3-3. Is what it is at the moment. Oh and I suppose Finlay might see some time in AAA. How he is hitting so poorly is beyond me at the moment.

4-2 week for the Bats, as we won 2 out of 3 at Windy City and then did the same at home against Seattle. It keeps us in first place in the standings and in the power ratings, so it's a good week against two good teams.

Pat Beseman has been a revelation for us through 4 starts - 3-0 with a 1.45 ERA. He's gone at least 7 innings in all of them and done a great job. We'll see how long it lasts, but the early returns are good for our budget FA signing.

Dave Webber homered 3 times this week after not having one in the first two weeks of the season. That's more like it. Between him and Beseman, 2/3 of my FA signings are working out. Johnny Bednarcyzk is kind of struggling in the bullpen, but he's getting pretty limited work.

Marco Rosaro won IL Pitcher of the Month for April. We use him a lot and he's picking up right where he left off last season. Brilliant against everyone but Seattle, where he blew a save. Postseason form already.

On the farm - AA Auburn is off to a blistering start to the year. They're now 18-2 and have won 8 straight games. Currently, they're average more than 8 runs per game and some prospects that I'm high on - OF's Ian Lisch and Micah Clayton, C Kaden Gaston - are starting off hot this year.

Injury News - Chad Raymond is now healthy after tearing his UCL last June. He'll go to the minors to rehab while I figure out what he's got after this injury. Ed Carroll has one week left on his injury. Hopefully he'll be able to give us a boost.

        Thanks Matt!

What an interesting way to close out the month...

Seattle sweeps Philly then loses two of three at Washington. At 11-8, the Pilots are in a four way tie with DVS, WC and CAL for the Bock lead. I'm pleased to be tied for first because we haven't played particularly well (7th in AVG, 11th in strikeouts, 7th in SB and 8th in spERA, 8th in HRA and 5th in defense). The bigger stories however comes in injury and transaction news.

CF "Super" Maeda is day-to-day for three weeks with a thigh muscle strain. It's only minimal influence on running but the fear of getting hurt worse especially with CF Pat Cerveny on the DL for another five weeks means Maeda will also be given time off. Not really sure who is going to be in CF this week... The BLB gods tend to have a funny sense of humor. I have Triple-A depth almost every where more than I do at OF, and even more so in center.

With a little bit of budget room left over, we signed OF Jimmy Gray and SP Ron Robertson. The two are a combined 78 years old and they have spent more time injured it seems than actually on BLB rosters the last few years. But I need another LH OF with Cerveny out and despite not putting together a healthy season since 2024, my scout actually gave Robertson a ratings bump this off-season. I tend to make sure I "get the rust off" guys but due to injuries and lack of option years, both my play right away.

We have one one of the worst BABIP in the IL, yet I have a bunch of guys, not named Mike Morla, that should be average to above average fielders... Hoping it evens out at some point!
