Hanging in there with a 4-2 week, as we could use all the help we can get to squeeze in some extra revenue in the play-offs in order to be actually running in Green this year, former #10 Overall pick Manny Cabral will start his first game this week after 4 decent appearances from the pen and one of our best reliever prospects will make his debut in The Show! Can't wait to see what the future holds for this bunch. I wanted to wait until September, but what the hell, let's try to sneak into the play-offs!

4-3 week for the Bats keeps us in first place. I always hope to win our home series, so dropping 2/3 to Baltimore is a little disappointing, but it was a really close series. Before that, we won 3/4 against Carolina.

Alec Aymond won IL Player of the Week. He's had an up and down season after I picked him up in FA, but in general he's been a nice addition for us. He and Dave Blackmon carried our offense this week.

In the opener against Baltimore, my manger used every reliever I had in 9 innings of play (one of them got injured), leaving us to put in 3B Ron Hammond to pitch the 10th. Predictably, it didn't go well. Hammond got lit up and we lost despite scoring 3 of our own in the inning. Not really sure about that bullpen management, but it's just one of those weird OOTP things. In general, I've been pleased with how my manager has handled the bullpen. I just want the ball given to Rosaro, and that pretty much always happens. He's having a monster season, already accumulating 3.5 WAR.

5-2 for us this week. Just 3 games out of first place and that coveted 1st round bye.

As stated above, we were able to take 2 of 3 from Washington on the road. After a tough 13-12 finish for July, we start August strong going 6-2 so far this month.

SP CJ Thompson had a strong performance in his first outing in the Blue and Orange, going 6.3 innings, giving up just one earned run and getting the win. We were also very encouraged by the play of rookie outfielder, Pat James who went 7/20 in his first week with significant at-bats. James is just one year removed from the draft, so we expect some growing pains but hopefully he can give us a little more offensive scare against the LHP that often gets selected against us.

We've lost RP Ron Chamberlain to injury, again. It's his 3rd major arm/shoulder injury in 3 years and I'm kind of bummed because the kid is a good pitcher. We'll see how he recovers from one in about a year and a half and see if he has it in him to bounce back from this.

We head back home next week to host Carolina and then head to Batavia to battle the Red Jackets.
