Seattle goes 4-2 against Carolina/Davenport with both losses by one run. The Pilots lead the BLB in run differential at +120 but are just 7-9 in one run games. The two losses also drops the road record to just 16-14 and 21-4 at home. The Scorpions are on a 12 game winning streak with PHX (2), DAV and DEN as their next 13 opponents.

We lost CF Pat Cerveny for eight weeks due to a partially torn labrum. We have depth at CF but the 25 year old was a big surprise for us at the plate thus far. Speaking of injuries, pour one out for SP Tom Calligan.

In transaction news, we are calling up SP turned 1B Robby Caddell.

Oh that's not the way to start momentum unless it's momentum toward the first overall pick.

I think I'll take it. Roster is not good.

Calligan's injury is a pretty devastating blow to our season. Given his history, it's not unexpected, but he'd been brilliant so far this season - 5-0 with a 1.24 ERA and had just won Pitcher of the Month. I'd been trying to manage him with a low pitch count and using a 6-man rotation most weeks to ensure he'd never pitch tired. Obviously it didn't work.

Not really sure what my move is to replace him in the rotation. Dave Theisen is the #1 prospect in the league and he's currently unhappy in AAA. But I wasn't quite ready to bring him up yet as I'd been hoping he'd get a full season in AAA before maybe making a late season appearance in Washington. All of the applies to Pieter Van Westen (#12 on the top 100) as well, though I think he's slightly behind Theisen at the moment.

I've got some other options who aren't quite as promising who will probably get a look first. I'll probably also explore the trade market depending on what's available on how my replacements perform, so let me know if you're looking to move a solid starter.

As for the rest of the sim, we got swept by Death Valley as our luck in one-run games finally ended. We rallied to win 2/3 against Batavia to salvage something. Dave Taylor continues to be red hot at the plate, surging into the IL lead in WAR.

Yikes. Thats alot of injuries mounting. So much for a 6 man rotations helping. Last 2 weeks we have lost a starting 3B, A solid pitcher, and Closer to go along with all these day to day we've been getting. Ummm, least Baldwin comes back next week?

Were hanging in there, but dam.

No wonder the sabermetrics crowd hates RBI... Morla goes 12 for 14 in one stretch and gets one RBI... on a solo home run... and doesn't strand a single runner... Hard to drive guys in with the bases empty... Yikes!!
