With 3.21, Denver takes RF Dave Grubel
    http://www.simgamingnetwork.com/blb/...yer_11287.html

We normally stay away from High School kids early. They take long to develop and you just never know if they'll ever hit their potential but Grubel was loved by both OSA and our scout.

Bishop has Grubel at unprecedented potential. High high school numbers nearly repeated. Reality is, he'll likely drop a bit in expectations and sit somewhere closer to OSA's projections. A power-hitting left-handed flyball pull hitter in Rocky Top is a recipe for success...if he hits his potential.

Defensively, he's average, but has a strong arm.

With 2.19, Wilmington selects SS Johnny Montomgery
      http://www.simgamingnetwork.com/blb/...yer_11296.html

Great glove, and it looks like he'll hit as well. Definitely a starter, maybe a key piece.

Pick 3.19 was SP J.D. 'Cadillac' Spencer.

Lefthander throws 93 MPH, and my scout likes his ceiling. Could be a mid-rotation guy at some point.

2.13 - Seattle selects SP Robby Umlauf

        http://www.simgamingnetwork.com/blb/...ayer_2129.html

I traded up from 2.22 to grab the pitcher out of the CCBL. OSA ranks his as the 7th best prospect in that league and the #1 pitcher in current ability. My scout likes him slightly better than OSA but he does seem Umlauf as the highest groundball pitcher in the entire draft. He's had a major injury and his one year of stats were pretty pedestrian but I was surprised to see him available in the middle of round two.

        2.16 - Seattle selects 3B Mat Barone

        http://www.simgamingnetwork.com/blb/...ayer_7634.html

While negotiating to trade up for this selection (from 2.26), the top players on my board went at 2.14 and 2.15. I didn't even have Barone on my draft list until after the trade was complete. Neither my scout or OSA believe he will be a star but his stats would suggest otherwise. I don't have many switch hitters and he looks like he might be able to play 1B-2B-3B-SS-RF at a decent level before long.

Two picks for the Bats since I last posted:

3.13 - C Kaden "Crunchy" Gaston - I traded up a few spots to get my guy here. OSA sees a good, power hitting catcher and my scout agrees for the most part. He's hit fairly well in college, but nothing overwhelming. Still, he had been the top hitter on my board for a little while when this pick came up so I grabbed him and hopefully he'll play up to the OSA ratings. Love the nickname.

4.5 - OF/1B CJ Eckels - He's listed as a LF, but based on his fielding ratings I think he's moving to first base. I think he'll be ok there. Three good years at the plate in high school and my scout is optimistic that he can hit. He's going to have to in order to make it as a first baseman. Switch hitter who will hopefully develop in the minors.
                      Washington Bats, 2013-

I loved Gaston which means I hate that Washington got him.
