  • SIM COMPLETE - 1985 - Regular Season 3

    Next sim: Tuesday

    No Thanksgiving day sim, obviously.

    WTF, now 2-17!?!

This is easily the best team I've fielded since I've been in the league too... sigh. As usual, a bunch of 1 or 2 run losses

As usual, the day that the draft picks are entered will be a joyous day for me

5-2, but Lang is pissing me off.

5-2. Good first week for Elliott. Campoveroe with player of the week honors, and Alvarez seems to be warming up. The starting rotation has been solid. I need the bullpen to come around now.

3-4. Offense and pitching took the week off. It'd be great of them to show up again next week.

On the plus side, Mac Avery had his first good start for us, throwing 6 shutout innings and giving up only 4 hits.

5-2, nice week for my team taking 2/3 from Windy City and 3/4 from Davenport. Good week for Jimmy Joy, he's been playing well since coming back from that suspension. We'll get Angelo Opio back in our lineup this week, so that's big for us. We lead the IL in runs scored currently, but Opio is a big boost to our lineup.

3-4 sim. 1-2 vs. Virginia, 2-2 vs. Wilmington
I guess it could of been worse. Going 3-4 at home against my division....doesn't feel good.

              The Good
-Michio Nago has arrived! The 2nd year OF is hitting .345 out of the leadoff spot.
-Jack Dynes made his return from the disabled list, hitting .364 this sim.

              The Bad
-My corner OFs can not hit anything. Oscar Paulet is now hitting .190 and Odilio Farelo is hitting .255. ***
-I lost a game to Wilmington 2-4, in which all four runs were unearned.

              The Ugly
-I'm worst in the IL in homeruns. ***

              Call to the Farm
-Those two asterisks have lead me to calling up OF Miguel Angel Padilla, the #8 prospect in the BLB. The 19-year-old tore up spring training and through 19 Triple-A games this season, he is hitting .392 with a 1.121 OPS. He will start right away.

I lost Kang for 8 weeks. Last sim my best hitter goes down, this one my best pitcher. May not win many games this season.

On the plus side the guy I called up to replace O'Conners pitched 6 shutout innings to notch a win against Carolina in his BLB debut.

Was there a problem with my export? I sent it on Saturday afternoon with a lot of changes, doesn't look like any of them took effect. Was there an error?

Um....11-8 and first place in the division.

                    Interesting...very interesting.

Wilmington Wildcats: Claimed LF J. Gordon off waivers from Syracuse.
FYI, John Gordon will be moved to California before the next sim. I forgot to check BLB Waivers last night. However, California was the only team to send a PM and they have a higher waiver priority than Wilmington.

Linty, let me know if you want any pre sim transactions done.

Everybody except 2 players on my team is slumping. Thankfully our 3 home game April is coming to an end. We look for a big turn around in May. We usually suck in April anyway, even when we had great teams. Too damned cold I guess.

                            Virginia Colonials - Week 3

                            2-1 @ Washington
                            1-3 @ Morgantown

                            THE GOOD
                            - Obviously, we love to win a series against the Bats. Made extra sweet by a fine pitching performance in Game 1 by "The Skull"... the butt of many of Smear's jokes. Magness scattered 7 hits in 7.0 innings (could have gone deeper, but I still have him on a pitch count) allowing 0 ERs, K-ing 5 and walking only 1.

                            - My self proclaimed "4 Horseman" are really knocking the ball around. I expented power at home as I built my stadium to fit my young players, but it's nice to get some power on the road. Harcourt, Nelson, Poling and Tracy have combined for 6 more HRs this sim... with Harcourt still being the slow starter of the group.

                            - Dale O'Hegarty is playing well off of his suspension that stole the first week of the season. Another sim north of .425 OBP... and 5 more SBs.

                            THE BAD
                            - There's something about Morgantown that I just can't get past. This team just owns me. Sure a lot of teams own me... but this one more than any. Plastic and I talked a lot while he was preparing to join the league and during his first off-season. I don't and can't take any credit for putting together his team... but... damn.... you'd think me being helpful would give me GOOD karma...

                            - 58 K's to 17 BB's.... that's pitiful.

                            THE UGLY
                            - .115/.167/.192 - 10K's - 1 R - 2 BB's - 1 SB - $18.0 per season
                            The Great One!

                            To many rings to count...

                              California Kodias - Week 3

                              1-2 @ Batavia
                              2-2 @ Philadelphia

                              The Good:
-Abran Lanbin. This guy just keeps on ripping the cover off the ball. About the only bright spot on my entire team right now.
-Best bullpen in the BLB. Not really a surprise, but it's nice to see the 'pen doing the job they were supposed to do.

                              The Bad:
-My team is just not taking walks. It's hard to be an OPS team when your hitters are swinging at a ton of 3-0, 3-1 counts.

                              The Ugly:
-Outside of Lanbin my outfielders are a combined 33/152 for a cool .217 average.

                              The Confusing:
Juan Carlos Ramírez, At age 18 he was the AAIL Player of the year, at 19 he has already posted a 19.4 VORP in 19 games with a line of .494/.529/.646. Last year in a brief stint at AAA he hit .471/.486/.588. I had him scheduled to start AAA this year, but the game said he wasn't ready, and overall, his ratings don't justify him being a solid player. I'm confused as to what his stats are saying. Clearly he's been an offensive force this past year and a couple weeks... but my scout sees him nothing more than straight 4's. I don't want to rush the kid because he's still young at age 19... but he's playing like he's at least 5 contact... I've never seen a 4 contact dominate AA the way he has. He got two talent bumps last year, but my scout does not seem to recognize him as a player with any future. Seeing as my scout is the type that over-projects on players... that has me concerned... any thoughts? I mean, a 19 year old that is hitting .374 in 700 AA at bats, has to have some talent... right?

BTW, in game, I was told that Syracuse has decided to pull back Gordon off of waivers... he wasn't on irrevocable waivers...
