      0-3 @ Denver
      3-1 @ Syracuse

      The Good:
-Mac Avery came through with a solid start, allowing just 4 hits and no runs in 6 innings, while striking out 3. After allowing 11 walks in his last three starts, it was nice to see him get out of this one without allowing one.
-Joe Gauina continued to look great, going 7 strong innings while allowing just 5 hits, no runs, and a walk while striking out 8. The conversion from reliever to starter is going better than expected. He'll be my Ryan Dempster this year. Wonder how much he'll want to re-up??
      The Bad:
-The bullpen was pretty weak, with McCoy and Schoffner the only guys able to keep their ERA's under 4.00...
-...and the Offense wasn't much better, hitting a combined .245, though we got on base at a .357 clip.
      The Ugly:
-Terry Drewitt continues his early season slump, hitting .125/.286/.312 to bring his season line to a robust .172/.246/.259. He actually hit his first homer this sim.
Funny story though: Rumor has it one of his teammates 'borrowed' Terry's Rubiks Cube from his locker the day before he hit his first bomb, took it home, solved it, and put it back in Terry's locker before he arrived at the ballpark for that nights game.

When Terry got to his locker, he noticed right away that his cube had returned, solved. Terry was pretty angry, telling the press "I've had that thing since 1981 when I was traded to Maine. It got me through some pretty rough times, and I always promised myself I'd finish it. To come in here and see it completed leaves me empty inside. Thats just not right!! Guess it gave me a little fire coming into this game though."

No word on who the culprit is, though Don Alexander and Anier Tafur were overheard telling Drewitt he could "thank them later" when he returned to the dugout after hitting his homer.

I wanted Gauina in the off-season in a bad way. I know we had a few PM's about him... but that guy was screaming SP to me. It was a good move to (a) convert him and (b) not trade him to me.

Yeah, I guess so haha. I didn't want to get rid of him, because I knew wherever he was going to pitch, we'd need him. Just didn't know how the switch to SP would go for him, after the disaster that was last years conversion for him. We've been lucky so far.

We needed to do well against the Dinos and Storm; and the guys came through with a 6 - 1 week. It was mostly done with smoke and mirrors (we're not really "6 - 1 good"), but I'll take the confidence boost.

              HEROS
6 Guys managed to hit over .300 last week, but 3B Amoldo Andradez actually earned DL Player of the Week honors; getting 14 Hits in 28 AB with 9 RBI from the #2 slot. Honorable mention goes to 2B Isaias Bendana for 9 Hits in 22 AB (.409); and to recently promoted Hitting Coach Marquez Carpoza for finally extracting LF Ken Cahill's head from his a**.

Here's to the Javelinas' Bullpen. With CL Carl Bell lost to injury, the "Funky Five" gave up just 3 ER in 27.1 IP (0.99 ERA).

              ZEROS
SP Andres Letonan managed to go from Hero to Zero in one week flat. In two outings he lasted a total of 8.0 innings and gave up 9 ER (10.12 ERA). Overall, management is pleased with his performance. And while his let-down against Hyundai was unexpected and unfortunate; all of Los Lunas is hopeful that this is not a sign of things to come.

              NEROS
We nearly had a perfect week but in the top of the 6th inning in game #2 of 4 against the Dinos, Hyundai SS Tim Moher grounded a 2-out, 2-RBI single past my Third Baseman. That proved to be the game-winner, as Taylor and Moran shut down the Furry Pigs for the rest of the game.

We get swept by Wilmington, but get 3 out of 4 vs Virginia. With the SEI to Caramillo, our best pitcher, we called up Gary Boivin from the AAA squad. His 1st 2 starts didn't go to well but, I was planning on giving him a shot this year anyways so we will see how he does. I just didn't expect to move him up the second week of the season.
