Dam JJ, hard fought series. 4 one run games including 2 extra innings. Impressive.

Pitt still on our tail. At the 3rd & 4th spot sort of interesting watching Wilmington and Toronto go back and forth.

We are finally really good at home. Only took years of finding the right players.

Now to win on the road...

Denver has the easiest remaining schedule in the entire BLB.

All-Star Week hangover as we drop 3 of 4 to Denver. Our offense was anemic and our defense was pretty bad. We shouldn't go 1-3 when our pitching posts a 2.18 ERA for the series.

I'm not sure who is managing the IL All-Stars but why in the hell was Carrasco in there for 3+ innings? He hardly ever pitches more than 2 innings in Baltimore so it is no wonder he lost the game for the IL.

I'm not sure what's wrong with C Storm Johnson this year. After a brief appearance on the Top Hitters List early in the season, it has been all down hill for him. At the plate, he's having a terrible season with career lows in nearly offensive category. He'll probably start losing a few starts to veteran catcher, Dave Foshee, as Dave is the better game caller behind the plate. Storm is, however, playing much better defensively leading the IL (among catchers) in zone rating, defensive efficiency and RTO%. Maybe taking a lighter offensive load could help the 23 year old get back on track offensively.

On the bright side, OF CJ Stripling will be called back up to the big league club after spending a week in Annapolis (AAA) to rehab his injury and shake off the rust. Apparently he didn't have much rust to shake off as he won a AAA POWA going 12/27 with 4 home runs, 1 triple and 10 RBI. The injury was just a broken thumb and you wouldn't expect any type of drop off, but it is OOTP so you never know. Realizing that our star man has been out for over a month and we are still somehow in first in the league's most competitive division only accentuates the respect I have for the rest of the guys that have been keeping us afloat.

We also get SP Erik Parham back as he recovers from uncontrollable back spasms for the last six weeks. I was hoping Parham would be a missing piece to our championship puzzle and while he hasn't gotten off to the start that we'd hoped, he still has time to make a significant impact to our season.

We didn't do ourselves any favors by dropping three of four in Denver as these are the kind of games you need to win to stay ahead in a division like the Stout. Next week, we stay on the road with 7 more games against struggling franchises. I think we have to go 5-2 to stay ahead and give us some cushion for the inevitable gauntlet of matchups we'll face following Denver, Phoenix, and Windy City.

2-2 on the road against Windy City. Given the slump they've been in, I thought we might be able to keep rolling but they came back to win the last two of the series. We briefly claimed sole first place in the Stout during the series, but we're tied now.

I had a brief heart attack when I saw Ed Carroll show up on the injury report, but thankfully it's a day-to-day injury and will be fine in 2 days. Tom Calligan is finally in the last week of this injury, with only 3 days left of recovery for him. Hopefully he can give us a boost once I can get him in the rotation. He's still listed in the Top Players list despite not pitching yet this season so maybe the injury won't ruin him.

Sweet. But that just means everyone will slump.

              Thanks Pat.
