I just want to give up.

My infield is a mess. I don't know where their bats went.

Furst who had a .700 OPS against RHPs last year, is hitting .194 against them with a .490 OPS.

Meckfessel is batting .214 vs. RHP with a .515 OPS.

Skolfield, who had another great season last year, is batting .198 with a .492 OPS vs. RHP.

And the rest of the team?

Zachary Smith, 26 year old with the $13 million salary, is hitting .198 for the season.

Rod Sedivec is having his worst year by OPS+ in his career.

Diego Moore has been awesome but for whatever reason has a bloated ERA. Ron Luehring has been good but has a gigantic ERA. This is despite us having the best defense in the league.

Omar Contreras just apparently can't pitch anymore. He has a negative WAR, which is hard for a SP to do. He's especially bad on the road.

The only good area apart from defense has been the bullpen, which everyone thought was the club's weak point going into the year. They rank 3rd in ERA.

    Fuck it!

I think this is where Hank (and I at times) was a few weeks ago... For some reason, the game seems to really pound some teams hard, regardless of the moves they may make, and other teams seem to just continue being good year to year... Looking at the history of the league, a handful of teams roll into the playoffs each year, and another handful, seem to suck just about every year... It gets very frustrating for active owners to be with a team that just can't seem to get it right, regardless of how rosy the minors, free agents, etc. look.

Now to some good news... Mike Morla, after years of being in the Top Hitters list alone... finally has a friend in 3B Erik Redding. He has been a stud for awhile, but this season, hitting consistently in front of Morla, has turned him into an offensive force... that also carries a nearly elite glove at 3B... Now that stupid pitching!!

The year to year variation has increased for sure player production wise. Last year we got out of the gate decent, but by late April we began to spiral in a way I haven't really ever seen before and before long we were 18 game below .500 and I was left wondering what happened to me 101 win team? We made a late push, but by then we ran out of gas.

is this real world. Ummm, yes in 2010 maybe. Today the MLB has formed a super team model much like the NBA so hard to say. Does keep you on your toes though for what its worth.

Please remember there are 25 other owners working hard to make they're teams better each season. Add in variation year over year and your right it can be very frustrating.

For all this talk about "tanking" it actually occurs less then it did years ago partly due to the fact less teams can hold on to all the top players, plus more payoff teams. Hell, in the IL there is a 50% chance each season. 24 teams and 8 teams when I started. Back when men were men. Lol, kidding but it really was a better accomplishment I think then today.

1-5 as we were destroyed by DVS and Seattle on the road.

We struggled mightily against the LHP-heavy starters presented by both squads. Excluding 2B Pat Rene, who hit well, the other three RHB whom we rely on keep guys honest with their pitching selections, C Storm Johnson, OF Alistair Whaley, and 3B Jerrod Baker, went a combined 10/61 with just 2 RBI but 24 strikeouts between the three players. You are almost always going to lose with those kind of number being produced by three key players. We'll make some changes next week to see if we can help that from happening again.

On the bright side even with his poor hitting, Whaley was able to steal three more bases. That brings his season total to 11 stolen bases. He only grabbed 14 bags through all of 2025 so I'm glad to see him finally becoming an elite baserunner to match his defending in centerfield.
