6-1 for Baltimore this week. We really needed a week like this to break us out of the funk we were in for most of July.
Sometimes when your team is struggling, you need someone on the team to step up and for us this week it was 31 year old pitcher, Alex Dominguez. Dominguez went 2-0 giving up 0 ER and just 3 BB while sitting down 18 batters in 15 2/3 innings of work. Coincidentally, we won both games 1-0 and these are the kinds of wins that build confidence for a team.
Offensively, we were carried by the IL's leading candidate for Stout Slugger, OF CJ Stripling. Stripling continues to demolish opposing hitting by winning his 3rd POTW award this season and continues to make a strong case for not only his first IL Stout Slugger but potentially only the 2nd offensive Triple Crown winner in IL (maybe league) history.
After a slow start out of the gate following the All-Star break, I'd love to see the guys continue to kick it up a notch and make a serious run for the Stout title in the second half of the season.
