More reports from players, "I'm not going to name names, but...". What a stupid feature this has turned out to be! I've turfed over 20 players from my organization and still the team is unhappy. I get that Morla is an asshole, but there is a long line of teams that put up with a Hall of Fame asshole because of what he brings! The fact that character is continuing to play this big of a role (along with my complaining about it I'm sure ;))

Jamiee Bisbee named All-Star MVP in his rookie season. It's made life worth living.

      I agree Paul.
It seems that personality traits play a huge role in this version of the game. Or rather, negative personality traits play a huge role.
It doesn't seem to matter how many leaders or good guys you have on the team. If you have one dink, and have a bad sim, the entire ship starts to sink and there's nothing you can do about it other than move/trade players based on a handful of cryptic messages and guess work.
I'm pretty certain that IRL if there was a cancer in the clubhouse, the manager would know who it is. At least give us details about which player or players are causing the problems.
I'm hoping OOTP '18 handles this sort of thing better and negative personalities don't play such a large role in wins and losses.
There is a long history of championship teams that had their share of a'holes (Cough! Reggie Jackson! Cough!) who still managed to win lots.

EDIT: My team sucks. I'm losing because my team sucks. I just wish there was more transparency to this portion of the game.
I don't want to deal a good player away because I'm guessing he's the problem. It would suck even more if said player was picked up by a good team that could handle his abrasive personality, then jump to OOTP 18 where it doesn't matter as much and the dude becomes a top-line player.

Yet, LAD has an entire pitching staff made up of assholes and they are apparently quite content... The intangible aspect of this version is an absolute disaster!!

Well we finally managed to win a couple of games from Batavia so instead of a plane crash I'll settle for a forced landing in some remote airport in the Canadian Northwest. Probably should have sent Urmison for a rehab assignment but was hoping he'd get back in the swing of things quickly once he was playing again. Hope he shakes the rust off soon.

Matt has a special knack for working with assholes. He's helped run the BLB for years. ;)

Dude, Phoenix won its first Brew with some of the worst character players in the history of the BLB. I know I keep repeating this, but I seriously think Anger is an output mainly from losing. Does it affect performance really???

Oh and up til recently we had a VERY happy bunch. Actually we only have one true "Angry" guy and thats cuz I put him on waivers. We've sucked pretty much for 2+ months now. Again results of losing or really unhapppy?

                  Winning trumps all.

Morale (good and bad) does affect performance but the bottom line is, if your team isn't winning guys are going to get pissed. If there is little team chemistry because of low intangibles or lots of trades in the clubhouse, you couple that with a bad run of play and morale just drops sooner than later. Good intangibles just act as a buffer from bottoming out. There is just a lot of competition at the BLB level and sometimes intangibles just don't matter when the team isn't performing at the level that we expect.

So your saying losing is more an output which I would agree with. Good proof is we started the year above .500 and it gave Pawtucket perhaps a little goodwill to attempt to weather the storm. Maybe our overall team chemistry has helped min the affects (my bench coach loved our clubhouse) but i will agree even with all that we continue our slide most will be unhappy.

                      Right.

Team performance sets the morale and is probably a feedback modifier to team performance.

You see this all the time in sports where a lesser talented team that is playing well for a few games upsets a really talented team, and then that crappy team goes back to being crappy for the rest of the season. Teams that look great on paper have poor seasons all the time.

But in California's case, Paul gutted the entire team. Any team in any team sport would have a lot of trouble maintaining a high level of performance when you have that much turnover on a squad.

In all fairness, this started with a team that had 100 wins, 98 wins, 95 wins, and then fell of a cliff, with a roster that returned it's entire staff (that shut down KC and Toronto) and added Tommy Horning to it's offence and defence... and just imploded to 71 wins... I'm not sure anyone saw that coming...
