Since we're comparing, my scouts average for Gonzalez was 6.3-7.8-7.5-6.3-3.5, the best hitter in that draft class, slightly better than Maeda. He certainly looks like he's going to live up to his billing.

Yeah, I liked Gonzalez over Maeda by numbers and because Maeda was 16. My scouts still love Maeda and say he's going to be a Superstar... but he's still so raw. He'll start in AA again this year and MAYBE move up to AAA if he performs. I figure '87 at the earliest before he's BLB-ready.The Great One!

That class turned out very well... Even Graham who suffered a talent 'drop', is still looking like a lock to be a solid member of my rotation within the next two years.California Kodiaks - GM - 1982-2013

It is good to be playing some games again.
My big guns Llombart, Tarcena and Robbins went a combined 11-74, though Robbins had 13 walks. It looks like Llombart ratings declined a little, but according to my scout Tar should still be solid. I'll probably need at least two of those three to produce this season to have a chance to contend seriously.
The fight for the 5th starting spot was very encouraging as rookies Thad Souders and Joe Viscavvet both pitched very well. I'd be happy if one of the two could be an adequate #5 guy and the other providing some SP depth. No player that I drafted (my first draft was 1979) has ever played for Daveport other than in an abbreviated call up but I am hopeful that will change. Souders was actually the first player I drafted; Viscavvet was a 10th rounder in 1981 who got a talent bump.
Bartelome Noa whom I acquired last year to play CF after Paradis went down and totally bombed, is having a good spring and is now the favorite to win the 5th OF spot. He could get significant playing time if Llombart continues to struggle.

I love that Pawtucket's 1/2 is Jimmy O and Eric Cafferty... takes me back to the good olds days (aka when we sucked a little less... but not really). Pawtucket and Indy are my favorite DL teams. I'd love to see one of them take a step. The Great One!

With the return of Latham for his final year in Baltimore, I'm not so bummed with my outfield prospects.
Good:
If ST is any indication of future performance, our offense is better than last year.
Through 12 games, we have 8 players hitting over .300, including former Colonial Eddie Just who is hitting .368 with 14 hits, 2 doubles, but 10 K's.
Also promising is the performance of rookies, Pat Washington(1B), Doug Ford (3B) and Ivan Garcia(2B) hitting .333, .353, and .375, respectively. Another surprising development is the performance of AAA star, Joe Discur. My scouts have always believed Discur had the talent to do well, but he never seemed to put it together. Now he has hit .412 with 7 hits, 6 ribgies, and a .474 OBP. I hope he's can play part time so Rogado(You got me Pat)doesnt see the light of day on the field.
Bad:
Larry Headington. My scout loves him and I gambled that he would breakout this season after making a little noise in Virginia. He may still but his ST doesn't show any signs of doing so. His aquisition wasn't all bad since that trade allowed for Nick Latham to resign in Baltimore for half of his original asking price.
Ugly:
Normally here are your bottom of the barrel stats, but I'm going to start off describing someone who's just plain nasty. Jeff Franklin is back. 12 IP, 11 K, 1.50 ERA. Lookout Chavarraga, daddies home.
Now to the real ugly stuff. The rest of the pitching staff looks lost without Daylln. Tim Nathan and Dylan Lillie have ERA's way over 4, (5.63 and 14.83). I'm sure this is just off-season rust, but its pretty fuckin brutal to watch. I'm optomistic because we are losing late in games mainly because I've got people in there that just aren't ready for the bigs yet and they'll be filtered back down to the minors this sim.Last edited by Delandis; 11-14-2008, 01:56 PM.

Bah. We absolutely hammered Franklin the first game of the pre-season. Hey Jeff, Abran Lanbin says hello... he's hoping you kept that arm nice and warm so you can keep on serving him gopher balls during the regular season.California Kodiaks - GM - 1982-2013

However, he didnt do that bad of a job for us last year, IMO. He'll get a shot in the bullpen to see how he does there.
