This morale thing is showing its head everywhere... Winning seems to be the cure... Nobody gave a shit in California when we were winning, now that we are mediocre... everyone is pissed off!

      .

So you think it is unrealistic that a professional player who is used to running the bases well and who was diagnosed with a herniated disc on 3/21 would throw his back out running the bases a month later?

I’m not saying that at all... What I’m saying is that that specific type of injury seems to happen far too often... and yes, someone who is rested at DH and has the occasional day off should hopefully lessen the frequency of this type of injury.

I believe re-injuries are coded into the game. He had a back injury last April and then again this year in Spring Training. A month later his back is acting up again. I’m sure his “back” injury rating isn’t very good right now. And baseball players can hurt their backs getting out of bed or holding in a sneeze.

I’m not in front of the game but he played eight straight games. My recommendation would be to avoid that many in a row for a player who has battled injuries, DH or not.

Any non-Durable player, I avoid playing many consecutive games in a row. Not saying that Moir would have avoided injury if this was implemented but does increase a players odds to stay healthy. Take Batavia’s Zabrinskie for example. He got hurt in his ST debut. Missed four weeks. On his return from injury he got hurt again 2-3 months. Not much you can do sometimes. Injuries happen.

I also recommend rehabbing players in triple A for any injury more than 2 weeks. I don’t have any data but it has worked for me.

Yes, behind the scenes, there's a separate injury proneness rating for each group of body parts. Back is one of them.
