Two nice late signings for Syracuse:

SP Tommy Drewery - nothing special, but he's pretty much a lock to be at least our #5 guy. If he goes 10-10 with a 5.00 ERA, it'll be an upgrade compared to what else we were looking at. 1 year @ 2.1 mill.

MR Zhi-qiang Bha - career 3.51 ERA. We needed a ton of bullpen help. Gotta start somewhere, and Bha should fit as a 6th or 7th inning guy nicely.
      Charlotte Knights - OSFL
      Syracuse Slammers - BLB
South America - 1984 WBC Runner Up

When I put a minor league player on my active roster for ST they will NOT get a BLB contract, right?

          Correct.

I wanted Ba, but I wasn't prepared to give him anything over 1 year, nor was I close to the money per he received.

Basically, I wanted him cheap. Old pitchers scare me.

Do I damage a young player's development by putting him in ST to see how he performs?

You can hurt a guy's progress by moving them too much.... and what you need to be cautious of is big moves up and down... like I wouldn't suggest a move from Single A to Spring Training then back to Single A. If he's 19 or 20 and AAA or close to it... might be worth a look.

Just remember though, they have to be on the 40 man to go to ST, so the Pro clock starts.

Hey! My 16 year olds are the only picks that have kind of worked (so far)... Maeda and Branch have actually held their potential.... while much older players have.... well..... been Virginia'd.

No, best thing to do is to trade them to me. I'll make sure they are ready.

FWIW I think the Paradis signing by Indy is huge. Could be enough to put them over the top to the contender category, if they weren't already there.

I was thinking about signing Paradis for around $5 mill. I don't need him, but he would be a great pinch-hitter.
