    • As with Dodson, I had Stephens as a mid to late first round pick. It looks to me that the high first round picks are going to be worth less in the new scouting world, which is bad for the rebuilding teams.

          • I think if you make your pick in this thread Andrew will update the utility.

I sent him an IM. I'd post my pick, but I enjoy causing you guys agony.

I didn't mean to imply that at all. Just that there seems to be greater variation than in the old system.

                  • The good thing is, even for the guys rated high, they seem to have servicable numbers.

It's not like Player A is 8-8-8 on one board and then 3-3-3 on another. He's at worst 4/5-4/5-4/5 with one or two being in the 4 and another in 5.

It's still a huge change, but at least it's a matter of overrating/underrating a player before he matures.

I just wish there was more involved in developing players. I don't feel like the coach's have that much of an affect.

                    • I'm authorizing Andrew to pick based on my list. I'm off to go watch Favre make an ass out of himself.

                      • Yeah, I'd love to build my system up with coaches that taught hitters to be patient and build a strong idea of what a strike zone is... the only way to currently do that is to target guys with good 'eye' ratings and hope they pan out.

                        • Something is screwed up with the utility. It thinks I'm on the clock for every pick. You guys can just keep posting picks in this thread when your team comes up and I'll enter them manually until I fix it.

                          • I'd also appreciate it if you guys stopped taking the pitchers that I want. Thanks.

                            • Ok, Thompson is the first head scratcher for me... my scout has him ranked as the 38th best pitching prospect, and the 142 best overall.

I agree, though the great Billy Beane said that patience is not teachable. It's instilled in a player from before the coaches can step in and teach them otherwise.
