You have busts and late rounders coming out of no where but no team ever has that large of a difference of opinion on a top 10-15 pick.

I agree with this comment 100% Of course there should be some variation but this is just bizarre.

        • pick is in. Shawn Jackson, CF. I had a better hitter on the board, but this guy was better all around with D, speed, and hitting. I'm a little worried about his work ethic and K potential... but it's a risk I'm willing to take.

          • NOOOO!

I was hoping Jackson would fall through to me in the second round! Great pick!

You cant compare the NFL to MLB. Most MLB picks don't sniff a game in the majors. Even 1st rounders.

I also don't think we should model the MLB draft against anything. The whole draft system in the MLB is completely broken and nearly all guys who drop 1-15 rounds based upon on where they're expected to go are are for one reason, money. Either they threaten to go to college or they threaten to sit it out a year. We don't have either problem here, so the MLB draft is a terrible comparison.

I did. but going down 15 picks, I didn't think I'd get anyone with that far of a drop. Sorry.

                      I was just curious.

Jackson was the OF I mentioned.

                      • FYI, if we make it that far I won't be making my pick until tomorrow morning. Heading out tonight and didn't have time to take a look at my list and load the utility. Plus I need to make sure the sandwich picks go through correctly.

I agree that there should be some variation, but what we are seeing here is ridiculous. I didn't just make up the quote from my scout about Payne, though that option would have been particularly attractive if the scout hadn't actually said it and I'd thought of it, since Spot is already in morning over Tardiff.

There are no examples from MLB in which one scout sees a player as a solid mid-first rounder and another says - "Simply hopeless at the plate. This guy is as close to an automatic out as you can get."

Maybe the fact that this is a carryover league from OOTP 2008 has screwed things up for this first year only, but if this is what we can expect in the future, the game gets an "F", in my opinion, for this change.

                          • I hate the new scouting because I don't trust my scouts pitching projections. But I had to go pitching this year since I loaded up on position players last year. Roll the dice, see what happens.

                            • We just traded up to 1.20 with Davenport. Dunno who is at the draft wheel right now, but my pick is loaded and set to auto whenever the picks get swapped.

We'll be taking the second Cristobal of the draft, Cristobal Sandoval. We had him as top 5 talent, 7-7-4-7-8. Very happy to get him here.

                              • Wow. That is exactly who I was trying to trade up for. Nice trade and pick.

My scout had him a little less than that. I'm at work, but I think he was like 6-6-4-5-6. Ton of speed too.
