      • eesh, Jared Austin was 8's all the way across from my scout... if he's right, he's gonna be a beast.

        • Just 5's across, but Rorison thinks he's got star potential.

He's actually neutral. I thought he was ability; I'm not sure if I had that wrong or he changed recently.

            • My favor ability scouts has him as a 5-5-4 but think he's got star ability as well.

              • Good pick in Don Payne by Spot... I think he'll be a solid 3B in the future.

As far as I can see the new scouting system sucks big time. It is fine to have some variation in the scouting reports but this is ridiculous. Some choice comments from my scout regarding Payne.

"Simply hopeless at the plate. As close to an automatic out as you can get."

                      and my favorite

"Slow as molasses. Warn the third base coach ahead of time."

                      • oh, and if anyone wants to jump in on this pick, i'll take offers... but know, i have a few guys that I can pick at this point that I like... so it'll have to be somewhat decent. i'm looking for more picks.

                        • I disagree. I think its more realistic that each scout has their own view of who's got potential and who doesn't. Otherwise we'd all be fighting over the same 50 prospects.

which goes back to the benefit of having multiple scouts on one team... i'd rather have that than this system. we hinge our ENTIRE draft on ONE scout's opinion, and that's kind of scary.

                            • Looking at any pro sport though, is there anywhere near this much debate on who's a top 5-10 pick? Imagine if a team in the NFL with the #3 or #4 or #5 pick grabbed a guy who was going to be a 3rd or 4th rounder. Has that ever happened? Has it ever really happened in baseball? You have busts and late rounders coming out of no where but no team ever has that large of a difference of opinion on a top 10-15 pick.

                              • Its a scouting staff, though. He's just the director.
