I didn't rush Magness... he was older when I drafted him and he was ready. Some of our greatest young pitchers struggled in their first season. If he sucks this year, then start pointing fingers.

    • That's an interesting pick.

We got Stephens as a 5-4-5, but my scout does say he could be a #1 or #2.

          • I had him at 5-4-5 who's an 80 at scouting amateurs and favors ability. Claims he should be a "Solid #3 starter".

Should we put any stock in what our scouts comments are or is it just a random comment based on their rating? For instance if two guys are a 6 in power and he says one's ceiling is so high and the other "should have good power", is that another indicator or do we not really know?

Edit: I found Stephens via alphabetical order.

                • Stephens 8-7-8, currently a 4-4-4.

He could have an instant impact if my Scout is right.

He was rated 4th best prospect and 2nd best pitcher by scout.

What would be the fun in that? If he pitches well this year, I'd miss my chance to finger point.

You take everything I write as though I am serious. I haven't the slightest idea how development in this game works. I like to have my pitchers post an ERA under 5.00 in AAA before promoting them to the show though, but you could easily be right in your approach.

                      • On a brief sidenote, do players ever make the jump from AA or A to the Bigs?

Can you get a report from your scout that ranks the prospects or did you just base this comment on your opinion of the potential ratings?

                            • In real life? A big example is Pujols - went from AA to the bigs, but not midseason. But there are plenty of examples of guys who get shuffled from AA to the majors, and vice versa, including a lot of spot starts due to injuries.

Sorry, I meant to say that through my 'system' of ranking players he was the second best available.
