Those of you that want to up the injury setting can move to California...

We pull close a 6 1/2 game gap on LA and are now four back in the wild card, and lose two more major pieces to our team for the stretch run...

This is getting ridiculous! And most of the people we've lost, have been either normal or better at staying healthy...

#1 Starter Dave Bradford two weeks
#2 Starter TJ Broughton two months
starting 1B and two hitter Dave Rizer nine months
new starting 1B and four hitter DJ Gosser seven weeks
new, new starting 1B (and potential New Breed) Erik Redding one week
starting RF and four hitter Tommy Horning three weeks
starting LF and new two hitter Jaden Moir one week
starting LF Jaden Moir two weeks
starting LF Jaden Moir four weeks
setup man Dusty Cataldi two weeks
and currently nine guys in the minors on the DL

Yet, somehow we are still kind of in this thing!

              2-4 sim; 0-3 @ DC, 2-1 vs. NY

Seattle loses a game in the Bock standings and is now in 2nd place, one game back of Phoenix.

We get Ulloa back this week and will be going full 40 for the rest of the season but I'm not very confident we will keep pace. All of our Free-Agent imports are losing the battle with Father Time. Goldsmith has a 6+ ERA for August, Fajardo has lost velocity two months in a row, Urmson's fielding is declining rapidly and can no longer roam CF, Cravalho's velocity has now dipped three times this season and will likely be waived.

              Bah humbug.

Besides the Rizer injury, none of those are that long or irregular. Baseball is a 162 game season, plus Spring Training and Playoffs. Losing someone for 1-4 weeks is pretty normal for a baseball player in a full season. Your team went deep into the playoffs last year and as far as I can tell you only rest players when they are tired (as in not giving days off) and you went with a 5-man rotation the entire season. There is nothing wrong with that but those reps add up, thus increasing your chance of injury.

                    Merry Xmas everyone!!

Pawtucket 3-3. Last few weeks we've been playing pretty much crap ball. Didn't think the Flores injury would cause this kind of affect. Strange. On the bright side we took the first two games at Pitt before losing on Sunday so we still keep a slim lead in the Ale. Doesn't really feel like anyone is playing great ball top of the division.

We have a ton of players coming up that should help us down the stretch. Old man Sonny Mason will here to teach the young kids Pawtucket tradition. Lets see how it plays out.

I'm not saying that they are long, or irregular, I'm just saying that I'd hate to see what the next level of injuries looks like.

Just like, the MLB, it's ridiculous, that you can't run a guy out there every five days, but a reliever can pitch 4 or 5 times in a week.

Better yet, explain how a quarterback can throw 50 -100 passes all week in practice, then another 50 on game day...

or why tennis players can hit three to four hundred max velocity serves every other day, but my pitchers need to be coddled...

It’s because baseball players aren’t real athletes.
