2024 Regular Season SIM 19 Complete - Next SIM Friday 12/22

5-2 week for the Bats, taking 2 of 3 from New York before winning 3/4 in Philadelphia against the new-look Freedom. We're still cruising along atop the Stout and maintaining a decent lead in the race for HFA.

But, we just lost Roger Villasenor for the rest of the year, a crushing blow since he's 12-1 with a 2.14 ERA this year. He's also still at 99 wins for his career, since we've stuck him with two no-decisions in a row. Big, big loss for this team since I don't have any great options to fill his spot in the rotation. I could move Dave Hall to a starting spot, but his one attempt at a start this year went terribly and that would open a huge hole in my bullpen.

Beyond that, it was an ok week, though that doesn't matter much.

I mean I get it. Going into the playoffs without a consistent pitcher like Villasenor is a huge blow. With that kind of injury, I think Phoenix moves back into position of the IL favorite, IMO.

I didn’t make a move for a stretch run for the first time in years (probably ever) and it’ is going to wind up costing me a playoff spot.

You tried. If I wasn't up 'til 3am and didn't see your response until too late this morning, you would've had your deadline deal.

THANK GOD WE ARE DONE WITH SYRACUSE!!! Lol, 4-9 against that mighty team. We did take 2 out of 3 against Cali so overall 3-3.

Injury news. Almost knew when Z started talking about injuries we'd get one. C- Flores out the next month. Defensively this won't cost us (actually were better off without) but now who backs Foshee newly acquired lefty Brendan Tripp who my scout has him 5-5-6-5-5 against righties OR is prospect Elliot a righty ready for some playing time in the big league??

A 2-4 SIM because Hammonds, our best MR all year, blows 2 saves. 11th in Bullpen and 11th in runs against. It's just unbelievable.

All I keep reading about is wildcard teams having bad sims and yet we are still 4.5 back.

It's okay if it doesn't work out. We dug ourselves a hole that unlike Baltimore might be too hard to get out of. But Ratley, Ackers, Osborn are locked in for next year and more. I think we will be improved in 2025.

It's okay if it doesn't work out. We dug ourselves a hole that unlike Baltimore might be too hard to get out of. But Ratley, Ackers, Osborn are locked in for next year and more. I think we will be improved in 2025.

Finding out stride now and getting close to September where we can use our depth to give the big guys a rest.

This week Tom Winkler made his MLB debut after an awesome year in AAA where he smashed 21 HR. He responded by batting .500/.526/.944/1.471 with 4 XBH hits including 2 HR.

We also lost budding star CF Jan Heckman to injury which really hurts. Which follows up the Jamie O’Hearn Injury....which is prob a good time to remind people that the season doesn’t end in July and maybe it would be okay not to bitch about the lack of other teams injuries prior to the season ending I guess. Fortunately- were loaded with depth at every level and we will have players to replace the injured. Team building.

Lost Ted Eaton to Seattle on waivers. Unsurprisingly.

Almost made a big trade prior to the deadline but opted against it. Gonna keep the young talent in the minors. Pretty happy for this young teams development this year, our average age of our hitters is 25-26...so it’s cool that we can step back and have a good season. That juggernaut Pawtucket squad is an issue but they are built for now so it’s to be expected. We’ll just try to outlast him with our young players like Zamora, Doyle, Bushnell, Snider, Rushin, Koberle all ready to contribute over the next few seasons.

Good luck with Tripp... We had high hopes (my scout projected 7 power) for him, after drafting him in the second round, but he just never panned out.

I'm only wondering, because I've been making trades I don't have the money for, and just wondering if I should even care... will the owner eventually take that money, or like the national debt, does it just keep floating year to year with no real value?!

I''m gonna try to give him some road starts and see how it goes. My guess is that 5 for contact us a low 5 and that power of 6 is very low also. (All against righties)

He won't start, but I do appreciate his defense some. Not big expectations. Just funny how Flores is hurt and there he is. Sometimes you just need dumb luck.

He's actually in the process of getting rid of his debt He projected balance shows -20ml next season so thats a major decrease versus what he had before. He will also draw some money for the playoffs. The part that maybe even confuses me is projected balance versus actual project is 8ml different so did he give cash away in trades? Not sure how that goes.

All I know if after revenue sharing he should of gone from -74 to about -22/-25 ml which is a major improvement. Assuming his budget can stay at 130 (this depends on revenue i think?) After 2025 he should be out of jail. Probably won't be active in free agency until then.

I personally think "cloud of war" they added a few versions ago is actually stupid cuz it allows for all these questions. For those especially who don't get the financial engine much.

For those who are new "cloud of war" means awhile back our books were open. Not sure the reason for the cover up to be honest. Perhaps so people wouldn't take advantage for trades knowing a team was in trouble. Again stupid cuz you should be able to tell thru the HTML who's in trouble and who's not. Just a little research in team salaries, now and future (again avail thru HTML) and you should have a pretty good idea.

Then, once you clear enough money- sign the two top international players on the market to contracts that wouldn’t be allowed anywhere else. Then, watch the mob form and look for the pitch forks. It’s fine until the torches come out, but have your buddy who’s a volunteer firefighter stand by and as soon as the flames appear wash them away. Once you do this, you’ll win between 85-95 games, lose in the first round, and then repeat the process again. The next time around, the mob will be because of injuries, something you can’t control. Unless you invest in a good trainer, of course. But usually facts don’t matter.
