The most enjoyable part of this season is seeing who is hurt after each sim. This week’s winner is Ted Sandy. He sucks but at least he plays defense.

I managed to escape this sim without another injury to a star player.

Well that went well. Pawtucket now entrenched into the wildcard spot. Losing Douglass for a month will not doubt hurt, but are basically about pitching & D anyway. Gunter will come back from AAA and Hua may also see additional work in the BLB. Take it week to week.

Landed 4 players in what I basically started calling the plan B draft. My scout thinks highly of all of these guys, but usually 1 out of every 5/6 amount to anything. Still we have the money to take small chances. No pitchers this go around, but we drafted like 6 of them. Pool seemed picked over.

Feels good when a plan starts to go right.

Got both hitting UDFA I targeted big, lost on the two big pitchers. Ward and Schwind have poor intangibles but stats were decent and scout likes their ratings. Zach August in 2022 looked similar.

I got the two right-handed pitchers J.D. March and David Contreras whom I split $1 million in signing bonuses to get.

Good week for the Bats, 5-1. Took 2 of 3 in Baltimore before coming home to sweep New York. Our division lead has grown to double digits, which is great but there's still 90+ games to play.

This team continues to be a pleasant surprise at the plate. We lost some of our best hitters this offseason, but it hasn't mattered yet. I'm not really sure where all the power has come from all of a sudden, but we hit 14 more homers this week, and only Kansas City has hit more bombs than we have so far. It's a pretty big surprise, given that our ballpark doesn't really do us any favors in that department. Combined with giving up a BLB low number of HR's, we've nearly doubled up our opponents with the long ball (100-51).

Standouts this week were Micah Garlick (.350, 3 HR) and Alexis Moran (.462, 3 HR). My scout has always been high on Garlick ever since I snatched him up as a UDFA and he might finally be figuring it out. So far, Moran might be the biggest surprise I can remember having, he's been great.

We're still pitching just fine as well.

I signed 5 UDFAs, out of the 15 or so that I offered. I figured I'd get outbid for most of them, so no surprises. I had 12 picks in the draft, so there's not too many open slots in the system.

Not sure what happened but for some reason CF Byron Bolding was benched for the first game of the week, and the manager elected to go with his backup, CF Nick McLaughlin, who might be the worst hitter in all of the BLB, and hit him leadoff. He somehow went 1/3 with a walk and a run, but managed to break his ankle and will miss four months. Not a huge loss but he was our "team leader" on the email from the manager a few sims back.

Oh well. Seattle went 4-2, including 2-1 vs. Phoenix, increasing the Bock lead to 2.5 games. Deiwart hit three homers. Swope went 2/14.

Race car bros in first place after a 5-1 week despite their negligent GM forgetting to put Benoit on the roster.

C Pat McKinney is on waivers. I think he probably gets scooped up so if you want him, feel free to throw me a pick to ensure he doesn’t get claimed by someone with higher priority.

It is sad when a 3-4 week feels like a resounding success.

We probably should just pack it in, but I can’t help but think we aren’t just a few tweaks away from .500 and a chance at that last seat in the IL playoffs. We are bringing in former Bulldog Oscar Sanchez from Syracuse to help with the morale as well as Seattle catcher, Pat McKinney to give us a bit more bite against RHP.

Bringing SP Dusty Threatt back has already paid dividends, as the 35 year old veteran tossed 8 innings of shutout ball in our only win this year against Washington. I was concerned that Threatt wouldn’t want to move to a team doing as poorly as we are, but he seems pretty about the move.

I thought I did it when I ran the SIM. When I went to update it said "timed out" but I thought it worked. I'll hit the update button again.
