I think we had 1 signing...

Maybe we just SIM the Arb/Team Option SIM to around December 20th, or a week before Winter Meetings...which is usually around December 26... instead of stopping when FA starts on December 6th.

That way demands are down a little and players are more likely to sign

If someone wants to pay the players’ outrageous demands to stay ahead of the pack early, I don’t think that competitive advantage should be taken away. I think that decision would run counter to the rewarding profitability.

I'm just more concerned with there being a 8 day break since the season ended with nothing happening...not to mention the last few weeks for owners out of the playoff race are pretty slow as well. And I'm not sure if anyone will sign anyway...if somehad had offered Kopp $20m a year for 8 years at FA1 would they have signed?

Just want to keep the momentum going so I'm throwing out ideas.

There were hardly even any offers by the looks of it... The demands are still crazy!

There are several players I like which have been offered. Unless you offer them it doesn't show up a lot of times. Then they tell you that another team offered them this much and now they want this much.

Also the demands are on par with what people have paid. We have guys making $25-$30m a season, no reason for some of the best FA's we've seen in a while to want the same.

Agreed! It certainly makes the FA period much more difficult to navigate, which I like!

Yep,not a whole lot happening with the guys expecting to get paid the most. Figured by now they would start to drop. Like Matt said, might just be timing this year.

About 35% of the teams are in debt right now, but 2/3 of the league has at least some amount of cash to throw around right now. Be interesting to see when the big players start receiving offers.

Actually a few players have begun to ask for less.

That's why it would be great to have a Rookie league during the off-season. So we can do something with our time :)

I guess that's why I'm thinking there may be some real bargains to be had...

There generally is. Without Intl guys I wouldnt expect as much over paying, You usually see that when the Intl shows up with a nice class. Then it gets crazy.

dont get me wrong some of these guys especially starting pitching will be near 20ml per. About the average salary these days for a 1-2 starter.
