The utility has your odds at 40% to make the playoffs. With 4 against Denver and six against Seattle remaining, anything is possible.

Oh and C Tom Leslie is listed as a Top 20 player and SP Dave Teel has climbed to the #3 pitcher in the entire BLB.

We are now entering a two week stretch without a day off. Facing a bunch of playoff teams in that stretch. Hopefully we can squeak into that Wildcard spot and defend our title.

Bess and Guizzetti are getting the call-up, and with that, The Process is pretty much complete. All we need is the Cup (or the 2nd place to Kansas City Memorial Trophy presented by Jack Link's)

We're an organization in transition. Identity changes are hard.

I thought it might be less painful than the last three months have been. Perhaps if I hadn't bungled the Mackey/chemistry situation, they wouldn't have been — we might even be flirting with a playoff spot still.

It just goes to show that you can have tons of experience and think you know what you're doing, and still make really basic, harmful mistakes.

There always seems to be this "key" guy we trade off our team or acquiring a cancer from time to time that ends up throwing your team off. In your team's case I don't think I've even seen such a bad slide before like yours. Its not like your as old as you have been in the past. I actually checked your team out wondering if a bunch of late 30's/ early 40's players suddenly just dropped off the face of the earth.

I just think the Ale is only allowed a certain amount of teams to compete. Like I said you were in my way.

Here's what happened from my perspective.

In my monthly chemistry update email going into July, I was told that our clubhouse was in good shape and guys were happy because we were winning — but the message noted that Tom Mackey was being really disruptive, starting a lot of arguments and causing problems with other guys.

I should have taken this note as a dire warning about Mackey.

But because things seemed to be workng — and Mackey had a 1.78 ERA in five June starts — I thought we could be fine with Mackey. After all, we had a 49-43 record heading into the All-Star break even though we were suffering through injuries to our rotation. (Adamo needed season-ending surgery, Pulido missed a few weeks, and Toste had shoulder problems.)

As soon as we started playing ball after the All-Star break, the wheels completely fell off. After winning the first game on July 20, we dropped literally 14 in a row, not winning again until we finally beat the Dinos 1-0 on August 5.

Then I received a slew of emails from upset players about how terrible the clubhouse environment was. Almost everyone's morale reflected anger.

I thought trading my selfish players might help, so I asked a few people if they would take players like Mackey, Edwin Garcia, and Tom Johnson.

No one wanted Mackey, but I I had a few nibbles on the other guys.

So I released Mackey outright — and I IMMEDIATELY received an email informing me that while the players weren't going to talk shit on Mackey publicly, they were thrilled he was gone.

I checked the roster page right after, and almost everyone's morale had immediately gone back to normal (or just mildly unhappy)— even though we had lost 14 of 16 at this point.

                Mackey was the whole problem.

If I had just released him (or traded him when he was pitching well) when I first received notice, I believe we'd still be fighting for a wild card spot right now.

But Mackey was a disease who infected the clubhouse, and a lost series or two after the All-Star break turned into a massive 14-game skid that effectively ended our season.

                So listen to those warnings!

The Seattle organization feels like Mackey has been a scapegoat in not only Maine but also Montreal. He was signed to a minor league deal and will be added to the BLB roster before the season ends. The kid has talent and desire to win.

I've never had a player called out via email. When we were losing I would get disgruntled players saying Pawtucket sucks ect, but least not yet the one cancer who messed up the clubhouse.

Still...like you said know the signs. I remember trading for this dick who signaled the beginning of the end for us.
