    • Went with closer Roman Vanderhoef. It was between him and a couple other pitchers, but his numbers and intangibles were too good.
Plus, my scout and OSA were both on the same page with his projections.
Probably too high for a closer, but I don't care. This is a guy I wanted in my system and too many times in the past I've waited on prospects thinking they'd drop, or worrying I was taking them too high, and then I'd regret it.

The thing that stood out to me is he was listed as having a "10" on stuff in the utility.

Don't think I've ever seen that before.

He was likely the pick at 1.15, and was actually in the running at 1.5. I think he will be a pretty special closer.

Seems another decent draft pool for front end bullpen arms. After years of virtually nothing it appears the needle as swung back in another direction.

                • We went with High School SP Tom Rakita my Scout has him 8/5/6 potential and OSA 8/5/5, he is 6'5 being just 17 years old, do prospects keep growing? Lol

He was selected twice for the All/star game in HS already, had no injuries and high Intelligence and Work Ethic. I feel happy with this pick and with Pat and UMD ahead I had to go up and grab him!

                  • Tom Rakita and Kaleb Purvis were high on my list too. I was hoping one of them would have lasted to my next pick.

                              • After many unsuccessful trade efforts today, we finally draft CF Riley Thomas... OSA loves him, his intangibles are good, he plays a coveted position (hopefully the 3 improves) and we still have a pick in two spots.

Basically a young Jamie O'Hearn without all of the paternity suits...
