We're a month in to the season and Pat Kaufman still hasn't allowed a run.

3-3 for the Brawlers this week. A quick glance at the box scores says we didn't give up a home run all week nor did we hit one. Seems a bit unusual.

Were you looking at the utility? Maybe it wasn't done updating when you looked? DAV hit 6 and gave up 8 this week.

This game can be quite an exercise in frustration...

We return the same bullpen, with presuming more experience and a higher quality, than the one that was at or near the top of the league the last two years and it is getting rocked nightly.

AJ Inlge, who has been Mr. Automatic for two years, has allowed three home runs (probably to my new short left field porch) tying last year's season total, and has blown two saves, which also ties last year's season total. I'm hoping it's a small sample size, but I'm thinking it has to do with my manager's insistence on trying to break the save record with Ingle. He's already pitched in 12 of our 19 games, while 4 other relievers have combined for a paltry 14 innings.

On the bright side, the bats seem to be turning around a little... With Morla again leading the way as he continues his assault on the Kodiak record book.

Three in Pittsburgh and three in Hartford... Should be an interesting week ahead.

Well pooh, after taking two of three against mighty Pitt, Hartford returns the favor and sweeps us at home. 9-10 April over.

                Some positives:

Johnny Schara rookie player of the month!!! 5 homers. Scout always has liked this kid.

Marco Carrasco. Lefty starter seems a lot better in his 2nd season. 2 walks, 23 k in 4 starts.

Brendan Watts makes the top pitchers list.....as a closer? 7 for 7 with a 0.00 era.

CF/ RF Pat Frank. Off waivers from Dallas. Might be that leadoff hitter we've been looking for.

                Now the bad news:

3-7 at home. Makes no sense.

1-4 against lefties. Well it's beats going 0-13 to start last year. How did this franchise that historically killled lefties get like this?

Injuries. I won't even get into this, but the cherry on top was Jordan Lopez we claimed off waivers promptly gets hurt for 3 months. The search for a lefty swing pitcher continues.

                Finally .....where are the fans?????

1B Wanzer from AAA might be ready, gonna give him an extra month. Might see SP Boyle also.

6-1 week sends us into a tie for first place. We're still in the middle of a 16 game home stand, which appears to have gotten us on track. I don't remember having a streak of home games like this before, but hopefully we'll keep up the good play at the Capitol.

It's been all about the pitching so far for us, as we lead the IL in most pitching categories, The starters have been fantastic, and while we haven't asked much of them the bullpen has done their job as well. JP Lawrence has been a rock. He got the save in all 6 of our wins this week and has saved 11 of our 12 victories so far. I'd like to not be playing quite so many close games, but it's been all about pitching and defense in DC. We're bringing it back.

Offensively, we've been middle of the road. Yonke has gotten off to a slow start. We'll get Turnbow back this week, hopefully that will help us get the offense gong.

In the minors, AA Auburn is off to a flying start. Led by catcher Dave Blackmon, the Venom are 16-4 to start the year. Our third round pick from last season, Blackmon might be in the BLB sooner than expected.
