There are an insane number of day to day injuries. It's incredible.

In an online league that ran 18 for my first time last season, I had 6+ players with day to day injuries that ran for weeks. My catcher struggled with a day to day hamstring injury for 3 months. It was frustrating but fun.

You can place guys on the DL and have them recover faster but it's no guarantee. The game only says "unknown" when telling you the recovery length. So you can place your star player on the DL for two weeks and see no change.

I do think 18 is a much better game just for how it handles injuries. It's a small feature that really has a huge impact on the game.

That's just about the only difference I think we would see. We can always wait for 19 or whatever.

This would be a huge drawback! I'd hate to see our league run week after week with a bunch of nagging injuries to good players.

I am down for realism, and for Roster construction, rather than few stars running the show as in 17! Therefore bring in the 18!!

Agreed, if that realism also didn't allow a team to construct that roster by going $50, $60, or $70 million dollars in debt.

Yeah that's another problem of this league, but it seems that it happens in real life, you can't be good and be profitable... It's the nightmare of all the Owners in the world, they enjoy a year or 2 of their teams until they have to spend $50M+ every year to watch them winning or tank and start all over.

I won for years and turned a profit almost every single year. So this is false.

I'm intrigued by the day to day injuries. More realistic.

When was the financial change? 5 seasons ago? I also won and was productive, before 2 seasons ago. But that can't remain for long now. Now I suck and my team is best to be sold.

I don't think the current situation of the Sharks has anything to do with the change in financials. You gave seven players long-term deals with an annual salary of $15+. That's a risky move regardless.

I'm not really interested in this with 7 day sims. Too many holes in a roster without daily management and control.

What if we changed our DL to 7 days?

Might be a good solution. Probably needs testing.

I agree, probably needs to be tested.

However, I see it two ways:

                          1. Day to day injuries, like in OOTP18 are way more realistic. Players are often dinged up but can still play. Ankle, wrist, finger, back, etc. I do agree that it would be tricky to add day to day injuries to a 7-day sim league, but if you check out below...

                          2. Changing the DL stint to 7 days would allow you to sit guys on a week to week basis with this injuries. Maybe a guy is day to day for estimated two weeks at say 25% decrease. You put him on the 7 day DL. The next week he is maybe day to day a week for only 10% less, and maybe you play him then?

Just a quick thought. I've really only known about this change for about 20 minutes with the new version.

It got me sleeping in the trade market, didn't have anything else in the minors either. Learn and move on.

I'm reluctant to let a manager play a guy injured early in the week with a day to day then they are out for months on a second injury.

Not knowing the mechanics it just seems like it's not really a good MP feature for us.

We currently have day to day injuries. They are just more robust in 18. And yes, players can have more than one injury.

I had guys with achy ankles also be out for weeks with a torn shoulder.

Can day to day turn into a big injury? Yes. But it's not much different than getting one major injury like we do now, or had been getting previously when day to day didn't exist.
