    In Seattle...

-Ulloa took home the IL Stout Slugger, IL Refreshing New Brew and Designated Driver for 1B. Manny Nieto finished 2nd in the New Brew and won the Designated Driver at LF. To celebrate his new found celebrity, Ulloa hosted a Charity Softball Game featuring BLB players and celebrities.

-I missed out on signing the pitching coach I wanted (Melendes to Davenport) but we did manage to sign a new hitting coach and team doctor. The hitting coach specializes in power which fits our team makeup. The doctor is all world in recovery but only average at prevention. My previous doctor from 2017-2022 was the complete opposite so it will be interesting to see the results.

-Speaking of injuries, reliever Dave Kell is out for three months after running into another car at a red light.

-Worst news of the sim, Seattle lost all all five of it's arbitration hearings, costing us about $3M. Greedy bastards.

    Around the league....

-This years IFA class leaves a lot to be desired.

-This is an older than usual FA class. Still some good talent out there but with their ages/demands, I imagine it will be a pretty slow start to the FA sims. I don't think Pat Evans is going to get 4-years at $35M.

That's really cool. His 2012 was the reason we won the Brewmaster's.

Both IFAs and FAs leave a lot to be desired. This could make for some serious bargains at the end of the free agency period.

On that note, it's nice to see that this year's IFA class sucks... It would be a shame if every year produced 1 or 2 sure fire locks. The fact that it may continue to be more hit or miss makes it a lot more intriguing.

I was actually happy to see it and we have more money to spend versus most everyone else.

Still, decent crop of free agents this season so cannot complain.(Mostly on the pitching end) Can't win off free agency alone anyway.

Scouting: Got a new scout (actually was a GM) He seems to temper is enthusiasm on prospects versus my last guy (both ability scouts so very strange), but again its a good thing since he also justified a few of our higher draft picks.

We already acquire a top 20 player and have our goals set this offseason, lets see how it all plays out.

Oh, we also won 49 games and may actually get WORSE next season. This game is very unfun.

As someone who has made sucking an art form, you need to look at the positives of a rebuild.
I thoroughly enjoy working with my farm systems and prospects. Maybe it's because I've had very little success at the BLB level, but I actually enjoy this portion of the game more.

You have a wealth of good young prospects. Have some fun moving them up and down your organization and watching them mature.
Honestly, you're probably only 1.5>2 seasons away from being a playoff team again.
With some of the kids you have coming up, as well as a nearly limitless payroll, you can subsidize some roster spots with FA's and/or IFA's, and next thing you know, you'll be a contender again.

Much like JJLinn's prospects at a dating auction, my future isn't very bright at the moment, but I'm geeked about getting this rebuild into 2nd gear.

I've missed the playoffs now 4 seasons in a row and it can be frustrating. Use to be able to see prospects a mile away. Today prospects have so much variation versus the olden days so you do get more misses especially on the pitching side.

Good news is your not in total salary hell and eventually a decent crop of INTL players will pop up where you will be able to pounce on them where Pawtucket had to sit around with our dicks blowing in the wind.

I've said it before, the "template" doesn't work anymore. Spoke to another vet GM and we sort of agree if your rebuilding your like a newbie right now. Worst to first days may be at an end.

Baltimore grabs a few individual awards following our epic regular season and equally epic post season disaster. Also, I'm a big fan of the AI award voting. I like not knowing the result of the vote until it is released for all of the awards. I "feels" more authentic this way.

Willie Fajardo had, arguably, the best season of his career in 2022. He led the BLB in Wins, ERA, H/9 and shutouts, while placing 2nd in a host of other categories. It is interesting to note that excluding his rookie season, he has been either 1st or 2nd in K/9 since 2013. That is truly amazing.

Tom Monk won the 2022 Last Call, putting a cap on an illustrious decade of work as a Bulldog. We accepted his 4.5MM extension but barring a flurry of trades to move some of the larger salaries on the team, it is likely that 2023 will be Monk's last year as a Bulldog.

25 year old rookie, Geoff Marlor took 3rd place in IL ROY voting. He had an amazing rookie season and with the departure of Jimmy Cooper to FA, he will get his chance to show and prove as part of the rotation. Ironically, as many relievers as we vote into the HOF, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have sniffed the ROY voting had we not done AI voting. Thanks, Watson.

Our club manager, Ismael Lopez also took home some hardware as the 2022 IL Manager of the Year. We won 107 games this past season, the most in Bulldog history. I looked at my managerial history in game and the game rated the season score at 115, the highest in my almost 40 seasons of GM'ing even surpassing the 91 in our 2001 championship year.

We are too broke to make any FA moves again this year. I doubt that we are able to repeat the season of 2022 but we should make it tough on Washington to continue their near unwavering dominance of the Stout in 2023. Plus we have to since financially the bottom will fall out for us for the next two years unless I move some salary.

It's now or never for the 2023 Bulldogs.

27MM opt out for Dominguez after 2024.
                              30MM team option for Fajardo.
16MM Parham in last year of Arby.
                              12MM Carrasco player option.
                              10MM vesting option for Perritt.

Plus 26MM team option for DJ in 2025.

95 MM in contracts could be gone in Baltimore next year? Ummm, wow.

So typical. $60m and nothing to use it on. Meanwhile all these IFA superstars every other season. The stadium cash really pisses me off. I'm going to have to invest all my money in scouting and PD and neither does anything. I could invest a dollar in scouting and it wouldn't matter.
