Pat Evans was a huge disappointment.

Bummer. Out score the Riders 11-6 but lose the two close ones.

Well, we won the series but it certainly seemed like it was more of Indy losing it (not meant to be inflammatory JJ- i think you'll agree). In two games Indy had a combined 11 Errors, Passed Balls, Wild Pitches, and HBP. For a series that was decided by a total of 3 runs, it's not overly encouraging on my end. Sure, we took advantage of the opportunities but these are fluke events that don't normally happen at the highest level. There are some encouraging signs though, the bats seemed to be there we hit a few HR, and Ivan Sepulveda pitched really well out of the pen. Ke was great in game 2, so we will need him to be excellent in this next series vs KC. I'm excited to see how Lofink dominates us, but this will definitely be a quick series for KC because we blow.

However, if we can make this a series decided by the bullpen somehow...we have a chance. Couple changes to the roster and we're ready to get that gate.

That's fine; the SIM probably couldn't run until this evening at the earliest anyway.

I also like how you already assume that I'm going to beat California and Pittsburgh will lose.

Relied heavily on young gun Dan Bradford in the short series...

Well, fitting end to our season. One of the shakiest bullpens in the league blows two games in the short three game series and we're making vacation plans for the offseason. Still, successful season for us as we start a rebuild, erase $25+mil in debt and manage a playoff appearance. In the short term we'll probably be a bit of a mercenary team as no minor league help is anywhere near the BLB level so we'll bargain shop for FA's just to field a team.

We are extremely fortunate to have avoided yet another postseason collapse. Ed Carroll is simply a horrific postseason pitcher, I can't count on him in a playoff game at all since he gives up HRs at a ridiculous rate. My attempt to let Dave Koehler come out of the bullpen was also a resounding failure.

Thankfully, our lineup woke up just in time to save us. We got 7 runs in the top of the 8th in game 2 (trialing 2-0 at the time) and then got 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th in game 3 (trailing 4-1 going in). At least I made one good move, giving the 25th spot on the roster to CJ Lempke, a very rarely used AAA outfielder. I figured I could use an extra bat in a short series, and he delivered the series winning, 3-run walk off HR.

Great series, Brad. Three exciting games.

Now we move on to Phoenix, who completely destroyed us last season. I expect a similar result again this time, if my top arms don't wake up.

I won't be in until this evening, probably 4:30 MT or so.
