We take two of three from Phoenix but we are only able to split with Seattle at home. We hit another 14 home runs this past sim which puts us in a tie with Seattle for the most home runs in the IL and hopefully this newfound power can continue for the rest of the season. Following Stripling's win last week, we had another Bulldog win IL POW, former Dallas prospect, OF BJ Lumkowski. Unfortunately, he strained an oblique, late in the week and will be out for most of August.
I can't stress enough how much OF Brandon Lanoie has added to our squad. Our former first round pick has come to back to Baltimore with something to prove. The 26 year old Ohio native has already quietly hit 20 home runs on the season and was voted to the All-Star game. He's been a beast since coming back home and I am very happy to see him back and playing at this level.
Finally, the evolution of C JJ Hanson has been incredible. The now 27 year old, former 2nd round round pick has become one of the most feared hitters vs. LHP and has shown that he should be ready to take the reigns full time if we aren't able to come to an agreement with veteran catcher, Willie Lara before the end of the year.
