Well, I didn't get to witness 3k hit last night, but looks like I did this morning. Congrats to Jamie McPherson.

This team is in free fall! 6-13 in July. The pitching staff that had been so strong for the better part of 2 and a half seasons seems to have completely forgotten how to throw strikes. Every game is marred by numerous walks, hit batters, and wild pitches. Coupled with not being able to get anyone on base in front of Morla adds up to mounting losses. Sonny Mason comes off the DL this week and hopefully coupling him with the ageless wonders Wilkinson and Wright will hopefully give the struggling pitchers a hand.

        Thanks, Brad.

We went 5-2. This week climbs us back to .500. But we actually lost a half-game of ground in the wild card race. Bummer.

Now Rowles is hurt. He had been struggling, so maybe I can get someone better in there.

So, I have a pitcher in A ball (Dave Hall, destined to be minor league filler for his career) who is 21 years old.

"He is upset that the club lacks players close to him in age"

          WTF?

He's just looking for something to complain about. When I pull up his profile, it says he's upset about there being too many slackers/selfish players on the team.

Well that didn't go well. Brought in more defense from the minors and while it had helped the pitching with defense its just made us a "we play close games but lose in the end"

1-6 five STRAIGHT one run losses and two in extra innings.

So we got that going for us ....which is nice.

I've seen players change the commentary on why they are upset without a change in file.

In relation, I've seen the red and green arrows for promotion and demotion suggestion also change without a change in file.

Good week, happy to take 2/3 from Cali and 3/4 from Montreal. We're right where we need to be.

                      What I like:
After a good win in Cali, Malik Roberson had this to say in the post game reports: "This is truly a great team to play with," Roberson said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."

While there have been many discussions about morale, it was cool to see a guy who's on the team for his leadership make reference to the chemistry of the team. From afar, it's good to see that the bond of this team is strong.

Following these comments there was another quote I like, "Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Pittsburgh manager Jerry Russell":

Again, that's another good trait for a team to possess. I know this teams destiny is more than likely a bad playoff loss, but it's comforting knowing that 1. They're a group that's close, and 2. They play hard for 27 outs. With the talent that's on the team, knowing these two things make me feel a bit more comfortable as we head down the stretch.

                      What I don't like:
The Ale. Too many good teams always piled in the same division.

                      What im hopeful for:
Jan Heckman and Joey Morrow. I could include this to be these two and Ian krantz and Dave Zamora, but I'm gonna focus on these two for now.

Heckman is a guy that I was absolutely in love with, I love his profile as a potential 5 tool CF with decent intangibles. Last year around the deadline I had discussions with Andrew fall apart because I wanted him. This offseason Andrew realized "Well if I get Lofink out of Pitt he'll be dominant and he'll throw a CG gem in a deciding game of the playoffs " and he included him in the offer.

it was a win win, but here's why I like Jan.

As a 19 year old in A ball, he's easily the best all around and most important player on the team. Defensively in CF he's a monster, where he has a +17.4 ZR, and offensively he's continuing to improve. His slash line this year is .287/.375/.407 and he's been worth 3.5 WAR. 23 SB, good Gap power and the actual power is going to take some time to develop.

Jimmy Morrow, he was the first bat I selected in this draft, and he's showing why he was a target of a couple teams in the first round. .333/.407/.537, with 6 HR and driven in 32 runs in 32 games. and +8 ZR. It will be a short stay in A ball for the kid, and I project he and Heckman to be on the same bus to AA at the end of the season.

I was just going to say your team looks like a bag of smashed asssholes.

A 5-2 week leaves us 2 games back in the division. We got off to a great start with a 3 game sweep of the Blues in Windy City, but had to settle for a 4-game split against Davenport back in DC. But, 5-2 is always a good week so no huge complaints.

Geoff Yonke is having a great July at the plate, Jimmy Douglas hit .394 this week, Tom Roseboom had a good week as well. We didn't seem to have as many timely hits, but it was a pretty good showing at he plate for us.

Tom Calligan has been great since coming over from Maine. Another very strong start from him this week and he now shows up on the Top Players list as the #19 pitcher. Roger Villasenor is making a push for Pitcher of the Month, 4-0 with a 0.93 ERA so far this month. New waiver claim Jon Bonilla made 4 scoreless appearances out of the pen, hopefully a sign that he'll help solidify that area of my team.

You're a little behind. Calligan was #20 on the list last week. I've been watching.
