  • Future of BLB

I wasn't sure how much I'd get into OOTP but I'm definitely hooked. Today I was thinking about how long it's taking us to go through seasons....if I'm remembering right we've been playing about 5 months total. So, it will take about 6 months for 2 seasons...right? At this pace we'll do 4 seasons in 1 year.

Where am I going with this? I guess is this the normal pace at which these leagues move? I have a ton of prospects that I'm looking forward to seeing play but if it takes them a few seasons to get good might I be waiting a whole year to see them get to the BLB?

On a somewhat related topic, what happens when the next version of the game comes out? Can we move our data from this game into the next one?

The league just transfers over when the new game comes out.

As for the league speed, I have no idea.

Assuming everyone, or more specifically Andrew buys OOTP2007.

I think 3 or 4 sims per week is standard.

This is pretty much the standard speed for online leagues (3 7 day sims per week). I think it will help to figure out the offseason some because that bogged us down quite a bit.

As for the new game, Markus always provides a way to transfer leagues over. Some people have been running leagues since OOTP 2. It's even easier when OOTP 2007 comes out because they use the same database structure. Technically, an OOTP2006 save game should work in OOTP2007.

I know, I'll be getting the new game and continuing to run the BLB as long as people are still here and still interested.

I say wait until a couple patches are out for the new version before we switch over... but i'll be getting the new on as well. although, i might wait for the price drop that seems to happen with every version like there was this year. I don't remember what the discount was, (maybe $10 off?), but it might be worth waiting till that drop anyway so they'll have time to patch the probable bugs that'll be there in the initial release.

Being on the beta team, I'll have a pretty good idea of where the game stands when it comes out. We'll probably be in the middle of a season anyways so will end up waiting either way.
