I'm paying off $9m in debt from last season. It's taken from my budget/cash this season.

Sadly, we can only grow our budget so far (think it tops out at 160) Its a good thing. If you win several championships just don't expect to keep everyone. This is what certain owners wanted.

You can still be somewhat responsible. If you have 7-8 superstars you just need to decided on the 3-4 you want to keep.(Pick the right core) Hope you have a solid system or use smart trades to replace the rest. Thats basically it.

Does that mean a team like Pittsburgh can just be in debt forever, in theory?!

Nah but you can be in debt for a while and then just clean the books like I do every few years.

Is that everyone or just a Pittsburgh thing. That seems like a massive competitive advantage for a team that, in essence, has millions extra.

If youre in debt, you have less money to spend so no you can't be in debt forever. Eventually you'll make money when you're not fielding a team that costs more than you're debt.

But like Mike said, he can move salaries to cover that debt.

My deficit is mainly because my attendance is diving due to our poor record. I was supposed to have a surplus when we started this season.

                      That makes sense.

Thanks for the help gents. I'm trying to figure out what to do with this California roster. Morla won't sign a long term deal and I don't want to commit to lesser talent only to have him want to sign next year and me have no space.

I guess thats the issue with him being awesome, but a complete dick!

THAT is what makes you a good GM not matter what Z says about you.

The Sim: 5-1 sim against the Bock's top two teams: 3-0 @ PHO, 2-1 vs. WC - Couldn't have asked for a better sim. Now tied with Philadelphia for the WC #5 and just 1.5 back of Windy City for #3.

The Good: Five players are on fire right now, by far a season high. This was the first sim where both the hitting and pitching were good at the same time. Of the five wins, four were decided by five runs or more, including two shutouts: 8-0 and 9-0. Andy Ulloa has got all the headlines this season but the other international import OF Manny Nieto has been playing some damn good ball. He's now up to 22 homeruns himself. Wouldn't that be wild if Ulloa AND Nieto broke the HR record? I might have to go into hiding if that happens.

The Bad: SP Chas Brooks. In 2021 he lead the BLB in losses with 15. Through 10 starts this season, he is 2-7, on pace for 15 losses. I can't decide if he has just been really unlucky or he can't make it as a SP. He's 4th best amongst SP on the Pilots in FIP (3.73) and is on pace for a 1.6 WAR, but he lost again this week. Most games featured dominant performances from the rotation, but Brooks found away to give up 5 in 4.2 IP. The leash on him will be short and I think his future with the team might be as a reliever.

The Minors: Signed a lot of UDFAs but for my current file, back down to 25-25-45, with a nearly clear DFA. Ironically, I lost out on a lot of prospects, even ones where I offered the same amount of signing bonus. But I'm not complaining. I still have $2.3M in budget room and had they all signed, I'd be at less than $1M. The big name was local product SS PJ Felton. His stats were poor, and OSA isn't a fan, but my scout thinks he was easily the highest potential FA available. He thinks he can be a "superstar." Couldn't pass up the Seattle kid.

Next Week: 1 vs. WC, 3 vs. PHO, 3 vs. BAT - After playing 13 straight road games, Seattle is at game number four of a 10 game home stand. We are playing good baseball right now, 8-2 in L10 and 15-8 in June. We are also a much better home team than road team, but I don't know how long this hot streak will continue. WC-PHO-BAT are near playoff locks and anything above a .500 sim would be a surprise.

                              Washington Bats - 1979-2013

I went hardcore on UDFA as you guys can see- my farm system has a lot more depth now which is what I really wanted with those moves. I've really purged a lot of the low ceiling players out of the farm.
