Thanks Z! Sorry for your issues.

Tried to sign SP Roberston...he wouldn't because his personality clashed with my manager. Instead he signs with Toronto, where my manager used to manage. Interesting subplot.

It just blows my mind how dominant Ulloa is. The new OOTP ratings are going to be nuts. He's on pace for 65 HR's and a 10.4 WAR. The record is 51 HR's and the only non Clay cheating WAR above 10 in the past 40 seasons has been Rex Knight (twice), Fujii, and Davila. We're going to have draft picks that are going to be nuts as well. An interesting time in the BLB...the steroid era!

    EDIT...

And Hirasawa saved his spot for now by going 2-0 this week with wins against Baltimore and Carolina. He pitched 13 innings and allowed 2 runs.

We keep losing so I'm happy. New draftees at first glance played well. Tibbs could be special and lead our rebound to relevance. Still looking to move all my BLB pitching.

Ontiveros will hit the waiver wire. He was a FA bust. Oldham will take his place while we wait for Sept call ups. Yes, I know it is June. Yes, Oldham will be traded by 2nd week of August.

Ochoa is waking up at C hitting .240. Anyone need a C?

Pawtucket 4-2. Soft schedule so not looking deep into it.

RP Bailey comes off the IR soon so thinking its time to bring a young pitcher down to AAA. Never expected this to be easy as it appears growing pains are more in this new version. Not worried.

Post draft we signed 5 of our 11 targets which is really good. Seems signing these guys are a bit more important versus just the draft. Also we kept our minor / IR/ DFA rather low which should make the cuts a bit easier.

Hopefully there are a couple of IFA busts! This would start to suck if every year there were one or two guarantees in the IFA pool. It'd be way more realistic if some of these guys flamed out early or just never got off the ground at all. I'm not saying we need to change IFA, I'm just hoping they aren't all winning lottery tickets.

In other news, California played like crap all week and snuck out with a 4-3 record. Contreras was pitching way above his head and finally reverted to norm with a big 8 run egg against Pittsburgh where he walked five in the first inning. The injuries continue to pile up... A week without our starting third basemen and four more prospects in the minors hit the DL... Yikes! Clearly I'm not managing my lineups in the minors very well. So much for the auto manage at that level.

Daric Berry killed it in his first week of pro ball.
I wanted to draft him earlier but I disliked his intangibles so much. I'm going to follow Berry for a few seasons to see if they play as big a role as I think they do.
There's a few guys from this draft I avoided because of this. I'd like to see how many become successes despite being either lazy and/or dumb.

I really have nothing to talk about in regards to my pro club.
Marco Contreras is struggling to hit (.228), but is on pace for 30+ HR's (16 in 74 GP). Who knows if he'll be another JJ Moore who displayed nice power last year, but has been a big dud this season.
He's only 23 and (hopefully) still developing, so I expect his average to increase. If he can be a .280/30/90 guy, I'll be really happy.

2018 1st rounder, Edgar de Alba is looking like he's figuring it out. He's only allowed 4 ER's in his last four games (25 IN pitched).

Drafted 228th in the 2015 draft, SS Fred Newkirk, has proven to be a serviceable big leaguer. He's only batting .240 but he's a +4.6 in the field.
Not great, but doing a decent job.

                    Debuts:

RP-Jasper Sheehan did fairly well in his debut giving up 3 in 6 innings of work. I have him as a starter for now to get more work, but eventually I'm hoping he develops into a lights-out closer.

C-Aaron Beitler, a 4th round pick from 2020 continues to mash in A ball. He's in the top 5 rankings for all catchers at that level.
I'm very tempted to move him up to AA, but he's only 19 and having a fantastic season. Might just keep him down for the rest of the year and move him up for the 2023 campaign.

3rd RD pick, CF Ricky Alejo, had a terrific pro debut hitting .467. My scout shows him as almost fully developed now; 5/6/4/4/5 out of 5/6/4/5/6.
He'll be starting in AA for 2023.

My other 3rd RD pick from this years draft, SS Trevor Boyle, is a hometown draw, being from Regina SK.
He hit .381 and was a +1.5 in his first pro week.
Hoping for good things from this guy.

I'm speaking a tough game with Intl guys, but I don't want to be back in financial jail anytime soon so I'll probably pick my spots.

For anyone playing OOTP 18, is the popularity mechanics improved?
I'm looking at Andy Ulloa who is on pace for over 60HR's and his national and local popularity is 'Unknown'.
This guy should be one of the biggest stars of the game.
Cespedas and Puig took the MLB by storm putting up half those numbers. Ulloa should be a highly popular attraction around the league - especially at home.

IF RJ Cheek has 6 rehab days left.

                          the sims are 7 days.

does he get waived if I leave him in Triple-A for this sim?

No. This has forever been a weird thing with OOTP.

Speaking of financial jail... How is it that teams can run potentially massive deficits and not pay the price... or does it bite them the next year(s)

                              Projected Balances:
                              Baltimore $-20 million
                              Carolina $-6 million
                              Dallas $-40 million
                              Death Valley $-1 million
                              Denver $-1 million
                              New York $-2 million
                              Pawtucket $-3 million
                              Phoenix $-7 million
                              Pittsburgh $-53 million
                              Seattle $-6 million
                              Toronto $-10 million
                              Windy City $-47 million

Not surprisingly, the largest deficits: Baltimore (-20), Dallas (-40), Pittsburgh (-53), Toronto (-10), and Windy City (-47) are firmly entrenched in playoff spots. Is a glitch to be exploited or is it just the benefit of a caring owner?! It seems like they should all have to shed payroll or lose players next year, or does it just continue to roll over?!

My wonderment comes from the fact that I have a bunch of good young players that will want to be paid soon, and by the looks of it, fiscal responsibility may not have to be as big of a priority as I'm making it out to be.
