Back over .500 and Montreal got that work for three straight games. We do not fuck around with these identity-crisis-laden, only-stay-in-Canada-because-our-economy-can't-sustain-itself peasants. We will find you, and we will beat you.

Thanks Brad for the early AM sim! With the baby, I'm up everyday right around 7:30 ET. Having the sim to read while feeding is a blessing.

The Sim: Another 3-3 week; 2-1 vs. Davenport, 1-2 @ Windy City, three more one-run games. With Denver and Windy City playing such great baseball, we still find ourselves 4th in the Bock and two games back of Philly for the last Wild Card.

The Good: This team can definitely score. Seattle sits 1st in the IL in HR, evtra base hits, 2nd in SLG and OPS. The first month+ of the season is was just Ulloa and Nieto, but the rest of the lineup has finally caught up. OF "Magic" Asiku won player of the week last week and 3B Donnie Benoit is on fire with 1.177 OPS in June. And while he is only on pace for 118 PA, 1B Dave Wescott has been a monster as a PH this season: 41 PA, .364/.845! He plays about 70% of games and only gets that one AB. He's pissed about it but he has played really well.

The Bad: The pitching and defense is still poor. Four errors this week and all three losses we had the lead at some point, including a 14-inning slug fest. The rotation and bullpen is constantly evolving as we called up a few more veterans this week to help with chemistry issues. I think it helped, but no matter how I play musical chairs with the 20 pitchers with BLB contracts....they just aren't that good.

The Minors: Three Triple-A All-Stars, three in Double-A and one from Single-A. Triple-A and Double-A are playoff contenders but Single-A is really bad...and really young. They need a boost from a collegiate heavy draft.

Next Week: 1 @ WC, 3 @ Denver, 3 @ Davenport - We have played much better at home this season so this week could be a disaster. WC/DEN stand above us in the standings and going 4-0 or even 3-1 against them could go along way...but I wouldn't count on it.

My team sucks, so I live and die with my minor league clubs.

Team douchebag Tom Mackey was sent down to AAA this week after many complaints from the clubhouse.
In last sim's Team Chemistry report, it was reported that everyone basically hates his guts.
He got his first win, and didn't allow an earned-run for Quebec.
I have a number of players with high leadership, but all are young. My bench boss is suggesting bringing in some veteran leaders to help keep him at bay.
I'm not against dealing him either. So hit me up with some offers.

Been pleased with 2B Jayden Miles. His bat has cooled off, but he's still a + defender. Hopefully he continues to develop into a solid starting 2B in the BLB.
Marco Contreras has been a nice surprise as well. His average is pedestrian, but he's hit 12 dingers after 61 games. 30 may be in sight.

JJ Moore continues to struggle. After hitting 33 homeruns last year, he's struggled mighitly this season.
Not being protected by Ledbetter probably has a lot to do with it.
At the beginning of the season, his arbitration value was $3.6M. It's down to 2M now. He'll be lucky to get that.
        Offers are welcome.

        A Ball update:
Have a few guys going to the AS game.

Marco Ortiz (KIN) - 5-2, 2.79 ERA, 51.2 IP, 1.34 WHIP, 5.6 K/9, 0.8 WAR (was drafted as a closer, but has seen more success as a starter. Probably won't stay there, but it's nice giving him innings to help speed up his develoment).

        C Aaron Beitler (KIN) - .332/.413/.459, 196 AB, 5 HR, 142 wRC+, 2.3 WAR
        - Really like this kid. My scout doesn't like him, but OSA does. And he's been tearing the cover off this year in A-ball.

        LF Damian Pratt (KIN) - .300/.378/.521, 217 AB, 9 HR, 1 SB, 137 wRC+, 2.5 WAR.
A third round pick from last year, he's mashing and playing a solid RF. My scout wants him to move up to AA, but I'll wait till my latest draft picks join Kingsville.

        AA Ball:
        RF Jimmy Keil (MON) - .285/.406/.523, 193 AB, 12 HR, 1 SB, 152 wRC+, 2.0 WAR
        Morgantown's sole representative.
Keil has been hammering the ball. He'll likely be a career minor leaguer, but hey, the world needs ditch-diggers too.

Former 1st rounder, 3B Grady Wente has been doing well hitting .272 with 9 bombs and a +2.2 at the hot corner.
He was a combined +15.6 between A and AA last year so hopefully he can pick his game up in the field.

Link Czechowski was a 9th round pick two years ago. I liked his leadership skills and glove and thought he may turn into a decent utility player.
He's hitting .284 thus far and is a +4.3 in the field. Probably another career minor leaguer, but you never know.

        AAA News:
Huang made the all star game and has been doing pretty well in his first season at AAA.
His defense sucks, but I drafted him to be a DH. Still only 20, he's progressing nicely, even though his lofty projections (7/8/7) by our former scout seem to be way off.
My current scout still thinks he can be a 6/7/6 hitter, but I think OSA is probably more accurate with Huang settling in with 5/7/6.
        RF Ze-min Huang (QUE) - .291/.372/.503, 151 AB, 8 HR, 138 wRC+, 1.0 WAR

Reliever Pat Markus also made the all-star team and has been lights-out so far for the Fighting Quakers.
My scout wants him called up, but I'm going to let him percolate for another season on the farm.
I'm hoping he'll eventually join Khalil Cory and Malik Clark as a fearsome threesome for closing games out.

        RP Pat Markus (QUE) - 1-0, 13 SV, 0.74 ERA, 24.1 IP, 0.78 WHIP, 7.8 K/9, 0.6 WAR

Pawtucket 2-4. Three one run losses and two of them were flat out chokes. The pitching staff is to put it mildly inconsistent. J.D Einhorn is a great example of youthful sillyness where at times he can pitch complete game shut outs (2 this season) and between those good games pitch turds against other teams. Bullpen? Don't even get me started.

Yeah this will be one of those type of seasons.

We keep losing - mostly because I have no hitters left. Hopefully some of these pitchers follow them out the door. Not really much to look forward to now that the draft is over.

My minor league teams look good and should get better with the draft entered. But that shit is boring.

                Back into hibernation I go.

5-1 week for the first time since... forever. Specially happy with our 2-1 against KC, when we do what we are suposed to be we can match 1to1 against any team in the BLB... Splits worked the whole week the ptichers kept the ball in the park.

De Leon was an excellent trade during the Draft and should help us to protect our Infielder's physical integrity while hopefully reclaiming a spot in the lineup himself.

Talking about protecting players in your lineups, what exactly do you mean about it? I am not familiar with that baseball expression.

We had to "tank" for the last 20 in order to dominate the division for the next 20. It's part of our master plan.
