I'm so glad you are in the BLB.

    • Pretty good auto for Funclown.

He was top on my board.

      • It took a while for me to have a pick, but the Bats had two third round selections.

3.5 - C Dave Blackmon - Two time NCAA All-Star selection at catcher, he had a huge 2022 season for USC, hitting .335/.479/.713 and was one of the top hitters in the college league. Will probably only be ok as a defensive catcher, but I like the bat. OSA thinks he's a big time gap hitter, which would play well in my park. Has enough defensive ratings to slide over to 1B if needed, which is a plus.

3.26 - 3B Jayden Alexander- A high schooler, so it's going to take some time. But, he's had three solid offensive years in his career. My scout is a little higher on his contact potential, but he should have some nice pop and has shown the ability to get on base. Very good defensively at 3B, with the ability to play elsewhere (but his best spot will be at 3B).

Like everyone else is with this draft, I'm happy with the guys I got, especially considering that 57 names were called before my first selection.

I'm big on Blackmon. He was top on my list after I selected Ron Valentine at 3.1. I think he has a chance to be really good for you. My scout thinks his eye has much more potential than OSA and his 43 walks this season might be a good indicator.

He could be good but the intangibles were a concern for me.

            • My 4.4 pick of Bolds is strictly a pick for my scout. The utility doesn't show it but my scout thinks he has the potential to be a top line starter. Told him he was betting his salary on it

Actually it's just my list.(auto still take the first from your list) As most know bullpen is an issue in Pawtucket, If two of the 3 guys make it as a closer/ setup this is a good draft .

me and possibly UMD agree , bullpen very important.

                • I'll be ready to make a pick right after Jakes clock finally runs out. This way we can keep it moving. Also, good time to remind all new owners out there to build up big draft lists so when you go on auto from list it'll get you the guy you want.

                    • The machine does well auto picking now. I don't know what it bases it on, but it's not far off from OSA recommendations.

I remember when it used to pick from the bottom.

It definitely can make a so-so team into a playoff contender. Seems like there are less high quality middle inning guys in this version. MRs used to be a dime a dozen.

                          • I badly wanted Duke SS Dave Furst with our first pick in this draft. Moved up two spots to make sure I got him.

Good glove. Tremendous intangibles. My scout thinks he can hit for power. Slugging percentage supports that idea. We'll see. Optimistic. You'll see him in Maine soon enough if all goes well.

                            • Went with CF Pat Cerveny out of FSU.

Won the 2021 DWI and has shown the ability to hit about the NCAA league average. Hit for the cycle once. All while playing on a subpar team. Top 100 in NCAA current and I think one of the highest remaining on the draft list. Hoping he can be a Dave Goen type. 8 on on range. 8 on running speed. Even as a 5th OF, he should have some value.

He's out for the year with an ACL...but we could use the roster spot as we will be bringing in 14 draft picks.

Passed on a few guys I really like but I've had my eye on him for awhile and couldn't wait any longer. Ian McClelland and BJ Garbarino, who both went right after, were both in my top 5.
