And here I thought Pat Bamford was the guy teams were tanking for.
Saw him this morning. I think he has won every POW this year.

IS this going to be our draft thread or will there be a new one made to laugh at this year's Nelson Marquez pick!?

I don't like the look of that mustache though.
Probably has leopard skin rugs and responds "Alright, alright, alright" to every suggestion.

CF Brookshere I had at #1. Durable CF who hits for contact and power. Very rare. Swope is gonna be a good player also especially with his bat. My scout isn't keen on his ability to play either SS or CF. He's gonna be a 3B or RF at best. Still , he will anchor a lineup for years.

My favourite as well here. The CF aspect is huge!!

Pick around 2pm EST. Shopping 1.3 but may just pull the trigger. Bummed I missed on the two hitters but that's life.

Good luck with the pick. I also had Brooksher as 1b to Swope 1a, but there are probably four players I think are worthy of the selection unless you are completely blown away by a trade offer.

My fault for not tanking sooner. Learned another lesson! Won't happen again.

The one thing I have learned picking 1st overall is... it's a lot of pressure.

Sure, you have a higher chance to land a great prospect the higher you are in the round of course, but I prefer to have the prospects I didn't think would be there fall to my selection. For instance, last year, I went with Seymour. He was #1 on the draft list. I got multiple PMs from teams saying they would have gone the same way but I'm not sure it was the best pick. If I could do it again, I might even take Tom Clark.

I'd rather be picking 15+ and just wait to see who is there. Having to decide from such a large group of great prospects, especially in the new version, is difficult.

I'd rather choose my guy. I've traded into the top pick (or had it) several times and that's my control my own destiny preference. If I blow this draft I'm basically fucked for years considering I traded a team of allstars (everywhere but Vegas) for this draft...

I hope tanking for a title works for me. It's my last "try" at winning a title because my other ways don't work.

I agree, having the #1 pick is obviously better (or more valuable) than having say the 24th, but it's way less pressure to "get it right."

As far as blowing this draft.... I don't think it's that dramatic. The IL is down. The Bock is arguably the weakest division in baseball. Starting in 2024, you have about $20M in player payroll. Even if no IFAs show up, you will probably have about $80M+ to drop on FAs to have a quick turn around. And that's if all the picks are misses....which they won't be. DVS will be back to being relevant as early as 2023, more likely 2024.

                                Agreed.
Especially with my scout who seems to see the opposite as OSA.
There are only a few top prospects where they both have similar scouting reports.
But I enjoy the difficulty of trying to weed out the good from the bad. I felt like in the older versions, top prospects were far closer to being slam-dunks than in '17.
