This offence continues to be an absolute mess. My players just can't seem to hit when it matters. We pile up a lot of meaningless runs in games that are already over, and then don't hit a lick in others.

After leading the league in GIDP in 2020 and 2021, it looks like we are well on our way to doing it agin. Too often this week we had guys on third with less than two outs and couldn't score them, or killed potential rallies with a double play.

The lone bright spot has been Morla, who has been absolutely ridiculous offensively. Hopefully he decides at some point he wants to stay in California, or we immediately turn into a AAA team.

We signed another aging vet, Sonny Mason, in hopes that he can add some pop to an ineffectual lineup.

The Sim: 4-2 week: 2-1 @ Windy City, 2-1 vs. Death Valley: 5 of the 6 games decided by just one-run. Could have easily been 6-0 or just as easy 1-5. Seattle leads the BLB in one-run games with 12 (out of 19). Living on the edge.

The Good: 21-year-old closer Roberto Valle has been a big surprise. One of the last players to get an ST invite and was not expected to even make the Opening Day roster but here he is closing out games. A 2nd round pick just last season, Valle still has plenty of room to develop but might be my best RP. This week he picked up a save and a win while pitching in five games.

The Bad: Not sure what is going on with 3B Donnie Benoit. In his first two BLB seasons he had a 121 OPS+ but he struggled in Spring Training and still has yet to get in a groove.

The Ugly: We lost 0-1 at home against Death Valley's #5 starting pitcher.

Next Week: 2 vs. Baltimore, 4 @ Carolina - Seattle is now three games back in the Bock and with four games against the BLB's worst team, maybe we make a jump.

            ---

            THANKS BRAD! HAPPY 4TH EVERYBODY!

Bock, we did our part. We knocked out two of Phoenix's starters for at least 3 weeks. Don't say we never provided any value to this league.

Happy 4th of July my American Friends!

Seems that almost everyone did what they were suposed to do and we clinched a nice 5-1 week to close out the gap with the big dogs.

When J.J. and Black settle themselves after the winter break we should be ready for a big push.

My closer had one of the worst ninth innings I've ever seen.

                  1) Walk the leadoff man on four pitches.
                  2) Ground ball back to the closer on the mound. Throws it away. Runners on first and second. Still no one out.
                  3) First pitch fly out to left field. Out number one.
                  4) Base hit. Run scores. Game is tied.
                  5) Another single. Bases are loaded.
                  6) First pitch fly out to the third baseman in shallow left. Two away. Maybe we can escape to extra innings.
                  7) Erik Surmeier walkoff grand slam.

Pawtucket 3-3. Lets just say Cali really has our number

So far Sloper & Carrasco are holding they're own. As predicted not so much Einhorn. We will give him one more and see if AAA Lynn is calling him.

We picked up RF Masao 'Snowball' Nara in a why the hell not , we dont want Pat to get to high a draft pick move and feels like he bring something to our offense. See how it goes.

Speaking of draft position , Toronto STAY WHERE YOUR AT!!!

Not sure what the bigger story is thus far...

                          Brewmasters hangover in Toronto?

Or young Kansas City being the best team in baseball?

3-3 this week with the pitching carrying most of load as our hitting can't seem to get going. Lost last years IL rookie of the year Jamie Hayden for two months. Hoping my next outfield prospect Freddie Wright will step right in and fill his shoes.

4-3 for the week including two, walk off losses to Philly in the City of Brotherly Love. As a team, we posted an impressive 2.08 ERA for the week.

-There was a 2B Pat Bryan sighting.last week. The 26 year old infielder has been inconsistent at best, but this past week he managed to pick up five walks and a 1.034 OPS for the week. Two years ago he looked poised to take the next step, only to disappoint in 2021 UNTIL the playoffs when he boasted an impressive .600 BA and 1.400 OPS in 18 AB. It's very hard to get a beat on what kind of player he is.

-SP Willie Fajardo picked up two more wins bringing him to a 4-0 start to the season. He has quietly been moving back up the Top Players List, currently up to #12.

-In the minors, 19 year old outfielder,Alistair Whaley, has taken over the #1 overall prospect position in the BLB. I think I took over Baltimore in the middle of 1984 (BLB) and this is the very first prospect we've ever had that's been ranked #1 overall. It may not mean much in the grand scheme, but it does seem pretty cool to see.

-We took Z's advice and gave former NCAA and Bulldog star Terumoto Chiba, his first gig in the BLB as our Single A manager in Orlando. After looking at how the back-to-back Stout Slugger plans to manage the team, his small ball approach is something different than what we've had in the past and I think our current roster fits well with what he wants to do.

-We also hired a new scouting director, Ivan Vasquez. It is no secret that I was concerned about the way our last scouting director reported on our players. I'm more comfortable with Vasquez's view of the players so no more complaints on that front.

Next week, we only have five games. We head out the best coast, for a short two game series in Seattle, followed by a three game home stand against Phoenix.

Baltimore Bulldogs - BLB since '84
                              - Porter Champs: '92, '93, '97, '98, '01, '03, '06, '08, '12
                              - Playoffs: '92, '93, '97, '98, '99, '01, '03, '06, '08, '12, '13, '14, '15, '16
                              - Brewmaster's Cup: '01
