Good week for the Brawlers as we go 5-1 which included a sweep of Windy City and 2 of 3 from Phoenix. We find oneself in a spot we haven't seen in a while and that's in first place. Probably won't last but the view up here is nice.

4-2 road trip which included giving up 21 runs over three games in Toronto. Brouwer and Bradford both got knocked around by that ridiculous offence. The ageless Tom Wright and Morla are once again carrying an offence that seems predicated on long rallies and very few home runs. Now home for three before heading back on the road for 6 against Maine and Syracuse.

A 5-0 week gets us out a solid start despite the disappointing opening week.

Only real negative this week was Dave Koehler missing his start because of a setback. Thankfully he's fully healthy now and we only had 5 games this week so we managed just fine without him due to the extra rest days.

So far we're first in the IL in .OBP and .SLG, so I'm happy with the lineup so far. A little inconsistent, but doing just fine. Yonke is off to a good start, Moody shook off the rust this week and Ernie Arbini has been a big surprise for us so far. I was hoping he'd bounce back, and he's doing well. Outside of Jimmy Peller (0/11), everyone is doing at least ok at the plate through 2 weeks.

On the mound, Dave Smith has made two very good starts as our 5th starter. That's encouraging, as I don't really know what to expect from him. Johnstone got rocked. Hopefully with Koehler now back the top 3 will carry us while the bottom of the rotation will be a bit inconsistent I'm guessing. That's where Honea's injury will be a big loss for this team.

4-3 sim, but unfortunately we lost Wes Allen for four weeks after starting out really well. Schneider and Beckel continue to rake while the rest of the offense is still trying to find their footing.

The Sim: 2-4 week: 1-2 @ DVS, 1-2 @ DEN, both wins by just one run....but so were three of the losses. Easily could have been a 1-5 week or 5-1. Them's the breaks.

The Good: Andy Ulloa wins player of the week and is on pace for 75 HRs. Without him, we are probably 0-13 on the season. In all of our four wins this season he has a HR. Besides him, the rotation has been much better than the positional strength would suggest. It's full of youth and hopefully they can develop during the season.

The Bad: My manager might be in over his head. I promoted him from AA, a former pitching coach at that. He has already made some questionable moves with late game bullpen and stolen base attempts. I've tweaked the strategy settings but if we continue to struggle, he might take the fall.

The Ugly: Besides Ulloa, platoon C Pat McKinney and PH specialist Dave Wescott, all other regulars have an OPS below .575. Not good. Not good at all. I have seven regular hitters with -0.2 WAR or worse so far. That's a pace of -2.6 WAR for the year. From SEVEN players!

Next Week: 3 @ WC, 3 vs. DVS - Seattle went 1-2 against WC in Sim #1 and 1-2 against DVS in Sim #2. I'm hopeful the pendulum swings the other way and a 4-2 week can get us right back on track to at least staying relevant. I can't suffer through a third straight season of essentially being out of the hunt by May 1st.

4-2 with another pretty decent week. We sweep the Tobs in Carolina but drop 2 of 3 in The Big Apple. Through two weeks, I'm really liking the way we look. When Carrasco finally shakes off the rest of his off-season rust (note to self, he needs more PT in Spring Training), we could really turn on some very consistently good play this season.

-Through the first two weeks, OF CJ Stripling is hitting .460/.526/1.406. I know, small sample size, but dammit he's come out the gate on freakin' fire. Dating back to October 2021, he's currently on a 15-game hit streak. He's top 3 in almost every offensive statistical category in the IL but I shouldn'tbe too surprised since he did win a playoff series MVP at 20 years old.

-SP Willie Fajardo has yet to give up an ER in his first two games. I've seen this before where we make a big trade for a top player and it takes him a season to get comfortable pitching in Baltimore. I'm hoping this is the same with Fajardo and he's poised to put in a Pale Ale type season for us.

-It is interesting to see this new look 1B DJ Gosser that is taking significantly more walks. I'm not sure if it is just that pitchers are just less willing to challenge him or he's just more patient but to see him leading the league in walks is just completely unexpected.

SP Erik Parham looks like he's taking well to life in Baltimore. His first start he goes 7 IP, with 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K's and tallied the win. I have a feeling that he's going to be a very good pickup for us and I'm looking forward to seeing how much he can add to our rotation.

3-4 - Gonna be painful reporting on all these games.

2 wins in 1 run games, and 2 losses of 1 run games.

Swartwood was the only bright spot at SP this week. Dudes need to pick it up.

I apologize if I don't get an upload in before tomorrow. Got a wife on quarantine, so I'm 100% in charge of the kids for the foreseeable future (ie. till Wed).

You're one game out of first. For a season with four first round picks, that pretty enviable.

Two weeks does not a season make. Few hitters and a no name bullpen will not hold up for a season.
