14. CONTRACTS

• If Team Option is used the Buyout must be the difference between Option year and highest Guaranteed year.
• Only one Team Option may be used per contract, and it must be in the last year of the contract. This prevents people from stacking Player Options after the Team Option.
• Players cannot be signed to contract extensions until after they have received their second arbitration contract. Players become eligible for contract extensions once they have two "Received a 1-year contract worth a total of $xx through arbitration." in their player history.

Seattle Spring Report #2
7-8; 12-16 overall

Encouraging:
+Platoon catcher Pat McKinney finished 1st in AVG, 4th in OBP and 6th in OPS!
+In total, Seattle had seven regulars hit above the .750 OPS. That's a lot for us.
+5 of my 6 SPs finished with ERAs under 4.00, 3 under 2.20

Discouraging:
-Lost OF CJ Phillips for the season to a torn labrum. He was going to be our #4 OF this season so a decent loss.
-Our owner is upset and says he hopes by the end of the year I can make him happy. Hopefully he just means on the field.
-Roster crunch. A lot of "locks" underperformed while a lot of "long shots" played well.

Overall:
*Better showing in ST2 than ST1.
*11 of the 28 ST games were decided by 1-run. Competitive team for sure but with a lackluster bullpen that doesn't bode well.
*12-16 projects to 70-92. I think we can be slightly better than that but anything above .500 would be a miracle.

Pawtucket struggled.

I really tried to get everyone some playing time most playing every other day. Based on this probably not a chance to get a grip on the overall roster. Still going to shoot for 74 wins and if this kids develop should get better as the season wears on.

*** Of the 3 young buc starting Carrasco & Sloper seem ready to go. Einhorn struggled. Its just preseason, but when looking at the three Einhorn seems the most raw of the group. He's gonna get the call to the BLB, but probably on the shortest leash.

*** 2B R.J. McGlashing & LF Dave Trausch simply aren't ready yet. Its ok, not everyone needs to come up at once. Off the Lynn AAA they go for more seasoning. Our offense is gonna struggle for a bit anyway and I don't agree on the concept that every player follows the same blue print when called up. Like to see both actually try to develop some defense while down in the minors.

*** No injuries so thats good.

Overall this won't be a boring team. Even if we struggle we have some players to develop and are close so its actually really exciting. I try to seek a new identity to each new version of Pawtucket and right now I can't find one. Who wants to have the same team concept every time???

In closing, if making the playoffs every season and winning a Cup was that easy whats the point of playing this game??? No lets get this season going.

No injuries for the Tobs and nothing really stood out to me. I had a bit of trouble getting from 27 to 25 but I think we are ready to go.

Wow, some surprises coming out of Montreal.
Recent acquisition Jayden Miles hit .353 (albiet in only 17 AB's) in spring training and has won the starting position at 2B.
Kaneie Kuwata was invited to camp, but nothing was expected of him. Instead, he hit .438 with 3 HR's and 8 RBI's and will be the Exports starting first baseman.
Khalil Corey has earned the closer role after allowing only one earned-run in 15.2 innings of work.
This dude took a long time to develop in the minors, but the last 3 seasons, he's seemed to figure it out.

The one issue I may have to deal with is Tom Mackey. After trading for him, I received a message stating the team isn't sure about adding him to the clubhouse.
His scouting report reads "Nobody would miss him in the clubhouse if he left"...

The biggest news out of the Bats this spring is Dave Honea's season ending injury. He was brilliant last season and is a crushing loss for the team. I guess I can be thankful that a market never really materialized for my pitching, because we're suddenly thin at the SP position.

The door is now open for someone like Dave Smith to grab the #5 spot, but there's not a great answer there. Someone is going to have to step up or I'm going to have to explore trade options there.

Combined with Seth Herrington's idiotic injury, and we're off to pretty terrible start.

We brought back Tristan Moody, so that should help the offense. I still plan to give Micah Garlick significant playing time at catcher, but Moody has been great for us the past 3 seasons so he'll also get in the lineup on a nearly everyday basis. Also signed Haraguchi, who will give us another solid left-handed bat, hopefully.

Fan interest grows steadly now... They are not "Pops" like before, if they are extremely popular players in your local market it will grow. Be patient.

Adding players no longer seems to increase your fan support, no matter who those players are. Losing players certainly hurts it, immediately. Makes no sense to me.

If your team wins as much as I expect it to, it should go up pretty quickly.
