    14. CONTRACTS
    • If Team Option is used the Buyout must be the difference between Option year and highest Guaranteed year.
    • Only one Team Option may be used per contract, and it must be in the last year of the contract. This prevents people from stacking Player Options after the Team Option.
    • Players cannot be signed to contract extensions until after they have received their second arbitration contract. Players become eligible for contract extensions once they have two "Received a 1-year contract worth a total of $xx through arbitration." in their player history.

Stadium mods done, owner cash infusions reversed, cash allocations from trades completed, 2 trades completed, FA starts on Sunday. This season trying 1 week for FA1 and then 1 week for FA2. Let me know if I missed anything.

        Thanks Brad.
IFA is definitely going to be interesting. There's a big stick in that group who wants to get paid.
He's young, dumb and full of bubblegum. It'll be interesting to see how much he signs for and for how long.

Signed David Tardif as a bench coach and Conan Wilkerson as my AAA manager. The mid-80's nostalgia is strong in the Racers organization.

            Thanks Brad!

Seattle won 5/6 arbitration hearings, so I'll take that as a plus. The one player arbitration favor was for C Ted Sandy and it only cost us an additional about $300k.

The Free-Agent Class is finally here! The international group is intriguing but probably not quite as deep as recent years. 1B Ulloa and OF Nieto being the big fish, and the only IFAs asking for multi-year deals out of the gate. The domestic class seems old, fragile and shallow unless you are in the market for SP/C.

Good bye, Jaylen Mitchell, Tristan Moody, Jamie Urmson (again), Jamie Roberts, and the other guys. Big losses in DC. Maybe they'll play here again, but the demands to re-sign were just too steep to keep them around.

In related news, the Bats have quite a bit of money and plenty of holes to fill. Arbitration cases look like they went ok for us, no big surprises.

Still looking to move a pitcher, most likely.

In my brief scanning of the FA class, it looks like DC has one of, if not the best FAs at multiple positions. Mitchell top SP. Urmson top CF. Moody top C. Roberts (one of) top OF.

I didn't expect Mitchell to opt-out. I realized it was a possibility, but having never used a contract opt out before I wasn't sure if he would or not. He was making good money and had great morale, so I was hopeful he'd stick around.

All the rest were asking for too high and too long of contracts to keep them around. I'm optimistic that I've got some players capable of replacing some of their production, but I'll have to make some moves this off-season to fill out the roster.

Shouldnt that rundown about the arbitration stamps read "second" and not "third"?

Nieto OSA is 4-6-6-6-5. Hmm, that might be a red flag. Ulloa looks like a scray 1B especially for a contender. At age 30 for a youngish rebuild team...

Pawtucket has actual money for free agency, but most likely continue down the draft, trade for young guys route. Were a good season away from really diving into the free agent phase. Perhaps a fillin or two.

Also up to 4 for farm system with the vast majority being pitchers.

Ya my bad. When I generated the first Offseason SIM post a few days ago I cut and paste from a year gone past. I changed it.

Curious to see what happens with Nieto and Ulloa. Clearly the biggest IFA targets teams are going to go after.

Also want to see where Mitchell ends up. Could be the big righty someone needs to push themselves to a divisional series.

All our money is spent on current players. I can't tell if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

We can make offers right now - correct. Brad said FA starts Sunday, which I'm assuming he means that's the first SIM where FA signings will be announced.
