Anybody else having this problem offering FA contracts?

I've already PM'd Andrew about this but I havent heard back yet, so I thought I'd ask the rest of you if anyone has noticed this.

I was messing around looking at FA's, offering contracts and just seeing what the demands were.

In '85 i'm good for about $30 million for FA contracts, which is what I figured. However, when its a multi year deal, the game is telling me the owner doesnt approve the deal because my projected payroll in a future season is higher than the current budget.

In fact, anything I offer over $9 million for seasons after '85 is declined by the owner, all the way out to the '94 season.

So right now my current budget is $61 million. In future seasons I have projected total salaries of:

'86 - $37.1 million
'87 - $20.4
'88 - $21.8
'89 - $10.1
'90 - $5.1

So I'm not sure why the game is telling me I cant offer these extensions, using a projected future budget of $61 million a season.

Maybe I'm missing something, but this doesnt seem right.

Do you have any outstanding offers, either to other free agents or extensions for some of your own players?

No. I have no extensions for my own guys, and only a small amount for FA's. I also checked to make sure I didnt offer any crazy amount for future seasons by accident.

Thats why I thought it was strange when I checked all the way out until the '94 season and it told me the same thing. Doesnt make any sense.

Well, it seems to me then that it is clearly another glitch. Who's surprised? If this is a general problem it is going to create a lot of extra work for poor Andrew, who will need to enter a lot of offers. Maybe he needs an assistant in charge of determining if requested offers meet our guidelines.

As far as the game is concerned - do they test it before issuing it?

Thats what I was thinking. I was hoping Andrew could check in game to see if he's getting the same issue if he logs in using my team. Maybe there is something i'm just not seeing.

Are you by chance offering contracts with different amounts of money in every year... sometimes if you structure contracts weirdly... the game won't accept it.

I don't think that is his problem. I've been getting the same message from the owner that he describes except in my case it is probably justified; stupid owner.

Nope, same amounts, though I tried different amounts as well just to check.

Yes.

The problem with this line of thinking is that issues seem to happen to individual people. The ones that are present for everyone are the ones that are dealt with (mostly) but when things like this happen to one person it's hard to test for.

I am not currently having the same issue with FA's FWIW.

I am still having this issue. Has anyone figured out the problem and solution?

No solution yet, but I am still having this problem as well.

I only have the same amount for future years as I have this year, but my declines quite a bit as the years go on, so I should have a bunch of extra money for future years.

Its strange that only a couple of us are having this problem though.

I am now seeing this issue with my offers this year. The other thing that I don't get about this is that the budget changes from year to year and you don't know what it is until after the season ends.
