Apparently we just stink right now.

I especially don't know why our defense doesn't get more outs. It should be really strong.

0-1 @ Davenport, missing the four game sweep to finish the series 3-1 Seattle.
        1-2 vs. DVS
2-1 vs. DC, including a 2-21 loss where two of my hitters had to come in to pitch

3-3 sim, 6-4 in our last 10 and we are starting to look like a baseball team out there. I don't think we will emerge far from the cellar but I do believe our 2nd half will be much better with the addition of rookies and the subtraction of upset vets. Go Pilots.

And there ends a really bad month of baseball for Pawtucket.

#6 best system in baseball right now...guess thats nice.

Looking at this season LA and Seattle are really bad right now so realistically the best we can do is #3 pick in the draft. Those teams are REALLY bad.

Its ok, we will just keep trying. Do see some good things happening if you can believe it.

We are (most likely) about to get a lot worse quite soon.

We have prospect SP Marco Carrasco up now and SP Dave Sloper soon....but in this new world doesn't mean our pitching will turn around. In fact really does seem they need to take a beating for awhile in todays world. Things are different today.

                We will be worse.

Maine has fired pitching coach Lanny Finbow.

Shawn Mills, who had been managing AAA Portsmouth, has been promoted to the role.

3-3 week for the Bats on the road is good enough to put us one game up in the division. We did score 21 runs in one of our games, but the offense was inconsistent and the pitching had some rough spots as well. Geoff Yonke broke out of his short cold spell to win Player of the Week. Danny Gomez has done pretty well since coming over from Seattle, so hopefully we'll find some rhythm at the plate. Tom Roseboom has been cold for a while now, that's hurting us since he's our leadoff man.

We're halfway through the season with a 51-30 record. I can't reasonably expect much more than that, since it's the best record in the league right now. But we also have the worst difference from our Pyt Record right now at -8, since our run differential suggests we should be 59-22. Hopefully we'll play closer to that mark going forward (no doubt this is skewed slightly by a 21-2 game this week). Still, it's been a good half season in Washington.

Carmona gave us exactly what we wanted after trading a first and Gantt to Death Valley. 5-1 Week cutting the difference with California from 9 games to 5 + 1/2. A long way to go, but definitely an improvement!! Go Sharks! Now or never!

2-4 for a home stand es no bueno. We definitely feeling the pain of losing Stripling as our offense had no continuity at the top of the lineup without him. I expect things to fall back into place once the guys get used to the new lineup that will be in use after the All-Star break.

-OF Eli Fernandez has finally started to show some of the talent that the scouting team has been raving about since drafting him in 2018. After hitting 13 home runs in over 470 at bats in Annapolis (AAA) last year, he has hit 12 home runs in just 159 at-bats in Annapolis this year so I think his power stroke has peaked (TWSS). With Stripling on the mend, he'll be getting a lot of at bats vs LHP going forward.

-OF Oscar Sanchez looks like a different player in Baltimore. He hit just five home runs in 62 games in Seattle. He's already hit two in the six games that he's played in Baltimore. The team has already embraced him as the new team leader. He's happy with the trade and he looks like he's ready to prove that there is still more in the tank.

We have 6 home games vs. Seattle and WC before the All-Star break. Let's see if we can go into the break on a high note.

All you winners need to trade for more of my players. Vinny Flores is down to about $4.5m left on his season salary. Chaz Landis can still pitch. Sedivec? Marrero? Cheap lefty SP Mel Reyes?

This is a tough game when you can't hit home runs. I have the most maddening offence in the BLB. We have a great record, but it always seems to take three hits to score someone. I'm tired of watching my third base coach hold guys at third base with two outs only to have the next guy get out. We've lost a pile of one run games with guys getting left at third.

Hopefully one of the supposed power guys in the minors develops, because we just don't do enough damage with extra base hits. Having said all of that, we are still trying to hold onto the division.
