It must be a very fine line between happy or pissed. We had all sorts of morale problems last year and haven't seen any so far this year. We've improved but still have a losing record.
This thread on the OOTP forums lists the personality types: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=256041
If you start a single player game you can go into the editor and see the personality for different types of players. I created a view for personality so I can get a better picture of my whole team.
I think the basic strategy is to limit the number of selfish/slacker/cancer type players and a have a few leaders but I have no idea what the threshold is. I have a few that I definitely think are slackers (low work ethic and desire for winner) and selfish (high greed and low loyalty. Ironically two of my worst personalities (McClain and Corbett) have been my best players.

This is the view I use for personality:
Also, I think having a team leader really helps. The email I got from my bench coach indicated that Dave McClain is a problem in the clubhouse but Joey Walz (High leadership, loyalty, work ethic, intelligence) keeps things running smoothly. That being said, Walz was on my roster most of last year so I think winning/losing trumps all.

I get the impression you're both right; that is, it's always been the case that it works this way, but it's been tweaked so the effect is stronger (and we have more information about it).Maine Guides

So lets calm down and review the facts here:
- You're still in the hunt.
- You still have multiple Brewmaster championships
- You were humbled by the mighty Montreal Exports in the opening sim.
- JJLinn is still a dickhead.
I think I hit all the major talking points here.Last edited by Hank; 05-04-2017, 03:14 PM.Brewers League Baseball

I'm not sure why all the moral complaining. When I got the Kodiaks there morale was horrible, after discussing or reading the boards from guys like Z, Matt, or Pat, and getting hosed in early trades I made a conscientious effort to look at the soft ratings and draft a lot of guys (Morla aside) that have high leadership and Intelligence and it seems to be paying off.
Clearly I'm a relative newbie here, but I don't see what stinks about the game being more difficult to play, or that it has changed over time. It's nicer not havin 8 or 10 of the same established franchises in the playoffs every year. And having played and coached a lot of sports (as some of you likely have) team morale is a real issue that good coaches and teams deal with and poor teams can't get a handle on.
And way way off topic... tanking is not a swear word... it's a viable strategy that an owner with the stamina to stink for 3-8 years can use to rebuild.GM California Kodiaks 2014 - Present

I just want more info as to the game mechanics which is why I asked the questions. Much like you did. After playing for 40 something seasons and 8-10 realyears here I'm entitled to question the mechanics of a game so I can adjust. You view it as "complaining" and "don't get it" but it's called a desire to win not fucking suck for ten seasons to try and win a title.Last edited by umd; 05-04-2017, 03:30 PM.Death Valley Scorpions (2003-Present)

We absolutely shouldn't be privy to how everything works together under the hood.
