Sorry Matt, totally forgot about my FA catcher signing too.
I was so excited to put him in the lineup, but then got lost wandering in the land of minor league rosters, I totally forgot*.

*When you're 20 games back before Spring Training completes, the minor leagues become far more interesting, lol

      LOOK AT PAWTUCKET COMPETING!!

Well our pitching is god awful, but our offense is at least somewhat fun this season.

1B Dave Grafing signed to a minor league deal batting .344, 4 hrs
2B Dave Graves rebounding this season after a I don't know what 2020 batting .362 and not playing horrible defense
3B Chris Avison only 25 having a nice start to the season after showing promise his rookie season batting .320
DH/LF J.D. Pomeroy is finally showing his 6 for contact against righties and batting .306. He still can't field worth a dam.

Were basically a slap hitting team now. Still in last since basically last year, but appreciate the effort kids.

You know it is a good week when you can hit .227 on the week and still go 6-1. On the road. Even with Seattle throwing every guy in the city who jacks off with their left hand at us. #parkfactors

-IF Geoff Perritt won his first IL POW since 2017 going 11 for 27 with 3 home runs and 6 RBI. Perritt has never hit more than 16 home runs in a season. Five weeks into 2021, he already has 8. Can you say "contract year?"

Even if I have said it enough, I'm going to mention it again. Our pitching is just NASTY right now. Both SP Jimmy Cooper and SP Willie Fajardo racked up 10 K in their starts and helped lead us to victory in their respective starts. And the funny thing is that those two guys couldn't be more different in the way they approach hitters but they both can get the job done.

We currently lead the entire BLB in strikeouts and 2nd in the BLB in both ERA and WHIP. Every other top pitching team plays in a "pitcher's park" so, I'm damn proud of how the boys are performing to start the season.

I called OF Dusty Filar back up after his little time out in Annapolis (AAA). He responded by hitting two home runs in his first game back in the lineup. I guess having your manager telling you to clean out your locker less than a year after you make the All-Star game might motivate you to get your ass in gear.

It is obvious that OF C.J. Stripling is good enough to play at the BLB level. He get sent down to AAA this week and hits .414 going 12 for 29 with 2 doubles, 1 home run and just 2 strikeouts. We'll be promptly returning him back to Baltimore, but he'll play behind Filar until it looks like HE believes that he can play at the top level.

We are only 3 games back of Washington now and we are heading back home hosting Seattle (again?) and playing Phoenix for the time this season. Let's see what these boys are made of.

So.....I've never actually used a vesting option.

So if a player asks for a 490 PA "vesting option" for the 3rd year of a 3 year contract, how does that actually work? Do they need to get to 490 PA in year 2 to get year 3?

Also, it looks like Todd Taylor's career is probably over after 17 years.

1st ballot HOF and easily one of the Top 5 pitchers of his generation. If he doesn't come back, I'll be kind of pissed that I didn't spend the money to bring him back home a couple years ago. He's actually from Baltimore.

His 2016 was an all-time great season. A 1.78 ERA and .93 WHIP in Pittsburgh is pretty incredible.

Vesting options can't be released early without paying the vesting option...which is dumb. It's new in this version.

But a good way to make sure people don't abuse them to win contracts in free agency.

I feel like every Pittsburgh pitcher who had an ERA under 4 should get in the HOF by default.

No, I'm never getting off the Akira Abe bandwagon. He is Tim Raines to my Jonah Keri.
