2021 Regular Season SIM 4 Complete - Next SIM Wednesday 4/26
2-1 @ Batavia, 1-2 @ Baltimore - A lot of close games. Could have easily been a 5-1 sim or just as easy a 1-5 sim.
Not bad. I feel this team has the talent to be a .500 ball club... but when you start the year 1-12, you have to be really good to crawl out of it. Not sure this team has it in them.
Story of the season so far has to be the Roadrunners with a league best 18-7 record, including 11-4 on the road. Without Geoff Yonke, the Roadrunners somehow are 1st in the IL in runs. They are also 1st in the IL in bullpen ERA, an area that has plagued them the past few seasons. The defense is only 7th and the rotation is 8th in ERA, but that group has a lot of talent (7th in positional strength) and should turn it around soon. A potential ILCS of DC vs. PH would be a dream come true.
4-2 and a good week as our pitching looks pretty darn good out of the gate.
-1B D.J. Gosser is on his game again to start the year. Already hitting .363 with 7 home runs, this kid is making it hard for me to even consider trading him.
-With a month in the books, we are 1st in IL in hits allowed, BABIP, OAvg and strikeouts. We are also 2nd in the IL in ERA, starters ERA, runs allowed and home runs allowed. Our good team pitching performance in April was spearheaded by the play of 23 year old hurler, SP Jerrod Blick. Blick went 3-0 with a 2.02 ERA with 26 K and just 2 BB in just over 26 innings of work. We aren't Washington good, but we pretty damn good.
-It doesn't look like OF C.J. Stripling is ready for the big time yet, so he'll spend some more time in Annapolis (AAA) this year, making room for OF Dusty Filar's recall to Baltimore.
We're going on road trip for the next week or so. Just hoping to stay at .500 for now.
Fernando Ortiz hurt again?! Shocker- the geriatric component of this team loves getting hurt.
Offense is horrendous right now which is making it tough to compete. Our best hitter is on the DL and my IF can't hit at all. Gotta cross my fingers that they can get it moving. Minor league help is not on the immediate horizon. On a side note, rumors that New York may be moving in their fences this offseason (I modeled the stadium after Shea but my poor batters...).
A 3-2 keeps Denver nipping at the toes of the Road Runners.
Healey and Ichikawa are heating up. Szymanski is punishing the baseball. Our pitching has been solid enough to start the year.
My main concern is the minor leagues. I'm seeing a number of guys knocking on the door at every level. Most likely won't be that good but I'm going to need to make some promotions and demotions.
