Well, we re-signed SP Tristan Jackson to a 5 year, $52.5 mil deal. I'm ... not overly excited about it as I'm worried he's trending down. He can still strike out people like crazy, but his walks have gone up three years in a row, not to mention ERA and FIP. But, my choices outside of him were nil, so enjoy that money.

We brought back left hand reliever Carlson who is old but great and somewhat grudgingly brought back my closer Davon Charles on what is essentially a one year $7 mil deal. It's a prove it contract as he didn't do terribly well as closer last year. This year we're moving to a no-closer mode for the entire season, so he won't be strictly used as a closer. Way too many homeruns.

Most of these contracts reflect the age of the FAs along with the lack of prospects in Wilmington's farm system. Prospects will likely be our focus this year, as will upgrading at defense.

Looks like arbitration was split between us and the players. Now studs like SS Tom Lewis and OF Erik Surmeier are being paid like they should, so we're essentially out of money. That's okay, they deserve it.

Maybe avoid giving Jackson 41 starts this season.

You know, that was incredibly odd to me. That happened, I believe, because I had him on a pitch count through the first half of the season which led to him being more rested. He ended up with less innings pitched than two years ago with 9 more games started.

Start highest rested and Jackson was #1 and always rested.

I get how it happened. I'm intrigued with how something like that works for a long period of time.

                Hopefully it doesn't kill him.

CJ Base also got 40+ starts.

                  Seems risky to me.
