        Another vintage California week...

We allow four unearned runs in our first loss of the week.

We then drop two of three to a horrible Morgantown team...

Both of those losses should have been easy wins, as our manager continues to inexplicably manage our offence as though he's pulling his ideas out of a hat.
Loss #1 occurs when Morla boots an easy ground ball (our errors seem to always lead to runs) to allow two unearned runs which prove to be the difference in an extra inning game.
Loss #2 occurs when we fail to add on any tack-on runs throughout the game, when my idiot manager fails to pinch hit or bunt in situations that would seem totally obvious spots to tack on.

Bright spot... After whining all year, Mike Morla has turned into an absolute stud as he tries to single handedly carry this flawed team to the playoffs...
He has come from nowhere to once again putting himself in contention for Stout Slugger consideration with his incredible play (offensively and defensively) since August 1st.

We've been .500 for about a month after our 12 game win streak. Need to get back on track this week and set some distance between us and the rest of the Bock.

Solid sim for the Bats, a 4-1 week on the road. We won 2/3 in our series at Death Valley and then swept Windy City in 3, so I'm happy with how we played. Still only 2 games up in the Stout, so we can't afford any kind of let down.

Geoff Yonke appears to have cooled off after his great start. Thankfully some other guys picked up the slack. Bruce Gonzalez has been playing well lately - he's having a nice year at 3B for us. CJ Turnbow had a good week as well, which guarantees he's going to be terrible this coming sim.

On the mound, Ed Carroll and Jaylen Mitchell are both hot right now. They're still 1-2 in WAR and have started to separate themselves from the pack in that category. Israel Rodriguez has also settled down and has been a dominant closer the past couple of months.

Coming up, we finish our road trip with 2 at New York, before heading home for 2 against Baltimore and then 3 against Batavia. First place will be up for grabs again this week.

We go 5-0 for the sim and have now won seven straight.

Like Morla, 1B DJ Gosser has also decided to put the team on his back. Hitting .375 since August 1st, Gosser has been a a real leader on the field. Fortunately for DJ, he's been getting a bit of help from fellow infielder, 2B Pat Bryan, rookie outfielder, OF BJ Lukomski and rookie infielder, JJ Cahill. All three guys have rejuvenated the lineup with their strong play and we hope to see more of this in September.

In another turn of events, I meant to re-download the file so I could send young outfielder, OF C.J. Stripling back to AAA for a bit more seasoning. But silly me, I forgot to redownload before submitting so I guess we'll be debuting our 9th and best prospect, this upcoming sim.
