Another winning week in Washington - we went 4-2. Looks like Batavia is heating up, so it's still going to be a fight all the way to the finish in the Stout. I expect the rest of the pack to close the gap soon, but hopefully we'll keep playing well.

My lineup had a solid week. Yonke is still hitting well, Jamie Roberts is doing well in an expanded role in RF, Dave Schneider had a good week. Even CJ Turnbow is finally above replacement level on the season, so maybe there's hope after all. We've climbed into 4th in the IL in runs scored after being around 10th for the first few months of the season. We're actually the highest scoring team in the IL since Yonke joined the lineup.

On the pitching side, it looks like Dave Koehler is in a rut. We lost both games he started this week and he wasn't good in either one. Hopefully he figures it out soon, but maybe I'll try a spot starter to give him some rest for a little bit. The rest of the guys did just fine.

We're 3 games into our 13 game homestand. Coming up we finish our 4 game set against Baltimore, then 3 each against Davenport and Death Valley. Any time we're at home I'm hoping for a good week.

The Philly bullpen is glad to see Batavia leave town. We had blown saves in all three losses (Hawkes picked up two and TJ Dunn the other). The bullpen has been solid all season, so it's disappointing to suffer such a bad series when we need to be at our best. Our path to a wild card is becoming narrower and narrower. What a wasted season. Sorry, Pat Evans.

If we can pull the #1 Seed with all the injuries we are having... You better be ready in the play-offs when everyone (hopefully) is healthy... Now Moore down for a week...

The bright side we extended Cinelli´s contract for the next 7 years, now we have to lock up Driggs next year and we will be extremely happy.

It's cool to see Toronto, Hartford, Cali, Denver, and WC all in playoff races.

Man, I hope Jimmy Kidwell still has a bounceback or two left in the tank. If this is what he is now, we're in real trouble.

Surmeier had a 30 game hit streak.

                    HE'S ONLY 23!

13-1 so far this month, and now we get our best position player back in Jimmy Gray. Hopefully we can keep some of that momentum when we travel to Batavia where Matt is on a tear of his own. Should be an interesting series, as we never fair well against the Muckdogs. We need to take advantage of August while it lasts, since we seem to only be able to play every other month. This bodes well for early playoff series if we can sneak in after whatever is going to happen in September.

                          3-3.

Looks like the two "aces" of our squad didn't fair too well without Lara calling the game. Both Dominguez and Cook got roughed up pretty badly. And to add insult to injury, CF Walt Nichol is out for 2 weeks.

This has been a pretty tough run for us since the All-Star break and I can only hope we can break this slump and find some semblance of form in September.

Easiest remaining schedule in the Stout should help.

Things continue to be shitty here in Seattle.

I just had my third player e-mail me to tell me the poor team chemistry is affecting his play. Combined with news stories of a player yelling at fans, our manager yelling at the media, a closed door meeting for a 23-year-old to complain about playing time and separate rookie missing a month with an "undisclosed" injury...things are just peachy around here. I have tried hard to manage the chemistry by calling up more leaders and youngsters happy to be at the BLB level, trading/waiving/demoting disgruntled players, etc.

But it's really started to get bad post All-Star break. 18/25 are now "unhappy" or worse. With the 2nd most difficult schedule in the Bock, 3rd in the IL, 5th in the BLB, it's unlikely we will go on any type of winning steak.

We are looking forward to the Triple-A and Double-A playoffs, however. Both clubs are very strong and most are 25yo or under.

Still keeping fingers crossed for a Ethan Stuart CEI.
